headphone recs

I’ve been using a pair of Bose qc3’s that I got as a gift in 2008 and they’re finally toast. looking for headphone recommendations because I haven’t been in the market in over a decade and I don’t feel like sifting through a bunch of astroturfed marketing posing as reviews to get up to speed. what’s good out there, I don’t mind spending money, I just want around-ear design and a wired connection and comfortable to wear for extended periods. should I get the bose qc35’s or what’s better/comparable?

thank you for your time

I have the Audio Technica ATH-M50X. 10/10, owned for a couple of years and still happy with them

Yeah, I have a pair of the ATH's. Use them for everything - listening to music, hooked to my guitar amp, on my PC. Great sound for a great price.

same experience here it's been years and they still work just fine. the replaceable cord has broken once or twice but it's ez to get a new one.

Do you have the external amp? I lost the chord to that after like one month.

second this, I’ve had the k712s for the last few years and they’re great, sound quality is fantastic, if lacking a bit in the bass (if you’re into that kind of thing)

Sony wh-100xm3 or 4

Has wired input and Bluetooth capability best of both worlds way more comfy than Bose also better noise cancel than Bose it’s a no brainer IMO

These are not audiophile headphones these are the best and most comfortable all purpose noise cancelling headphones but if you like music they sound great too

I got the 4s and love them. Very comfortable to have them on for hours while working on a desk, or even if you wanna watch a movie without distracting your partner.

I wouldn’t wear them while running or on a gym, though.

I’ve got a pair of senheiser hd-650s. A little pricey but sound awesome. I’ve also got this thing called a firefly which is a little usb dac/amp which def enhances the sound quality. Audio In general is a massive and expensive rabbit hole so don’t get too caught up in it lol.

BOSE = Buy Other Sound Equipment

What do you want them for? Home use or out and about? Do you care if sound leaks?

I like the Sennheiser HD range, you can't go wrong -just pick the ones in your price point. They are super comfortable and sound solid. HD 560s are a great choice. Open so they leak sound but sound better.

Also everyone should just buy a pair of Koss Porta Pros. They are fun and great value.
