Can we all agree?

That we’ve all learnt a lot about exactly what is a knock-on?

To be honest it's the complete opposite.

I've been watching rugby since I cam remember and I've always thought I knew what a knock on was but now I've got very confused.

Who knew the knock on rule had be refereed wrong for all these years......

The new game plan is when going for an intercept just volleyball smash it into the air. Doesn’t matter if you could catch it or not. Then as long as you run after it an let it hit part of your leg then it’s play on! Intercepts just got a whole lot more interesting..

I understand that, I thought I knockons were one of the simpler aspects of the game.

LRZ knew he knocked it on hahaha, the Welsh were as shocked as anyone when that try was awarded! If you have no control of the ball when it drops like that onto your leg/foot it's still a knock on and that's always been the rule in union. In league I know you can save a knock on if you get a foot to it but in union that's a knock on surely, always has been

Wrong way round with league mate. If you drop a ball and it goes backwards that's still a knock on a lot of the time there's more focus on losing control of the ball rather than if it's gone forwards

I'm specifically talking about getting another touch on the ball, like with your leg or foot. In league it saves the knock on, in union it still is a knock on. But yeah I agree they seem to rule knock on a lot even if it's clearly dropped backwards

That call went against everything I have ever seen when a knock on is called, virtually 100% of the time, if the ball is lost and hits the leg, it’s still a knock on.

Is it only ok if the other team is still in the huddle ... ?

If I understand correctly, if you wearing red you can move the ball forward?

A knock on is exactly what happened. The ref was absolutely shocking

I disagree

Having looked up the laws I'm more confused then ever. There is far too much room for interpretation.

I would argue that it highlights an ambiguity in the law which hadn't really come up before. Of course the reason it hadn't come up before is that no ref had given that decision in a high profile game before because, well, you know a knock on when you see one.

I don't understand why anyone thinks there's any ambiguity here. It's the same as if there'd been a more obvious knock forwards and LRZ had just wellied the ball before it hit the ground.

Talk to Pascal Gaüzère and World Rugby, not me. Although I do think the wording doesn't cover all possible eventualities.

I'm curious why you think (if you do) it doesn't cover this eventuality. This isn't the first time we've seen a situation like this.
