Am I crazy hoping for good DLC for BDSP?

Discussion

"Good" DLC would be anything from platinum content like the battle frontier (that I would go crazy for) or the unreleased events from gen 4 or brand new stories/areas.

I feel like "faithful" remakes is a reaction to the idea that sword and shield is far enough away from a standard pokemon game that there isn't a game on the switch for old fans (I know that's the reason I and some others didn't buy a switch and BDSP has changed our mind). Diamond and pearl are known quantities, we know they are good games. So it's the safe play when handing them off to a new developer to say "just copy this". But once the game is released and sold this other development team has nothing to do so why not let them experiment with some DLC?

When they originally announced sword and shield they did not announce the DLC even though it was part of the plan from the beginning. I'm really hoping we're in a similar situation now.

What's the likelyhood of DLC? What are the odds there has been enough change in direction and control of pokemon that we see a return of the battle frontier?

Eh... how about just including them in the base game. 👀

Uhm...I don't want these things to be part of a paid DLC. That would be honestly worse than not bringing them back at all. If anything, the Platinum innovations and the events need to be part of the base game! You can't seriously want DLC for a remake! A remake, where, mind you, all (or most) of the content would already have been developed more than a decade ago! They cannot offer DLC for a remake in my eyes. Bring the features back, or not, but no DLC.

I was going to say that after buying the game and any theoretical DLC, you may as well just buy Platinum.

But then I checked how much Platinum is selling for these days...

I'd prefer if the company stuck to their old release formula for Gens III-VI (i.e. Pair Game, Sequel/Third Ver., Remake). Although in an optimal scenario I'd actually like to see them use the base pair game as the "Big Games" of the generation as they should be and have the subsequent games in that generation use the advantage of having the assets for many things already there and make more experimental Pokemon games. Like you can already use Remakes to stave over between the big games anyhow, but what about some games to further flesh out the Pokemon World and its people like some of the spin-offs like Ranger did?

Dlc does not belong in Pokémon

My biggest hope for the direct was another round of SwSh dlc so I would be all for it. I think their DLC model is greatly preferable to previous release models so as long as its similar I would be happy with it.

DLC is garbage and I don’t want to have to pay for something that could have been included in the base game.
