.223 Wylde is a good chambering but I'd recommend staying away from Steel Cased 5.56. While .223 Wylde can chamber both .223 and 5.56, the steel cases stuff has a tendency to have the spent round stick in the chamber. I have a .223 Wylde rifle from Barnes Precision and it locks up everytime I've tried to run steel cases through it.

Went with a 16" Midwest upper chambered in 223 Wylde. Rise Armament BCG for both 223 and 556, and found a local company for the lower, which is basically milspec. Milspec trigger also, but who knows what the future will bring.

I'm honestly usually appalled at the tacticool gun culture, but I'm not anti-gun in any way. I have a Savage Fox 20G side by side and a Winchester 9422M, both which are admittedly plinkers from my teen years.

How do you like the midwest handguards?

I honestly dont know yet. I've only put 30 rounds through it so far.

It's quite rigid so I feel like it'll be reasonably accurate for free floating. I was going for something fairly unobtrusive when I picked it out.
