A street corner where people often meet unexpectedly by Minaminami Take

I can't get the image of an anime girl with whole loaf of bread (still in package) in her mouth running late to school.
meet Tanaka Nozomu.
Wasteful Days of Highschool Girls
Anosa
Lol clearly an homage to the “Daily Lives of Highschool Boys” anime, AKA Danshi Kokosei no Nichijou
It literally is and, imo, it's fantastic. That was definitely the Anime of the season and I started watching it on a whim, expecting nothing! Bangin' OP, too.
I would like to think that some poor girl bent on finding a boyfriend heard about this street corner and in an attempt to give herself “extra luck” she brought a whole loaf.
I had to do that once. I was in a club and it was my turn to bring the snacks and I forgot
I think Nichijou had something like this, too
Imaginary slices* of life
I applaued you! That is a fantastic pun!
I love the whole loaves of bread. Who dropped that, Goku?
The sheer irony of this sub satisfies me
Wow. I didn't even know it was a real subreddit.
I've added a bit of content from r/Imaginaryfood to it.
Ironic
I've added a bit of content from r/Imaginaryfood to it.
it's so noteworthy as a phenomenon the local government erected a dedicated street sign
These signs exist in Japan! I've seen them at corners in train stations, where people running to catch their train might collide with someone coming the other way.
They're labelled "clash" in English:

Not gonna lie, I thought all that bread was there because people routinely got hit by trucks and isekai’d here
Truck Chan noooooo
Truck-chan Yes!
My thoughts went dark too. People run by there and vanish... Or turn into those birds. THOSE BIRDS ARE PART OF THIS SOMEHOW! I KNOW IT!
some poor bastard dropped a whole ass bacon and eggs on toast breakfast 😦
Wait.. is this the epitome of "slice of life"?
Very likely. I'd say it's time to pack it in, but I guess we can leave the sub open for someone to get second place.
Noooooo, not the jelly donut!
Brock has entered the chat.
She's gonna turn that frying pan into a dying pan 🚶♀️🍞🚛
Hopefully there's a corner mirror for every corner. But even those didn't help, it seems.
I like that the birds seem to have met each other unexpectedly also
Here we see the wild female anime mc, right before falling into a breakfast toast trap set by its natural predator the Isekai Truck. Will the anime mc survive her out of world experience and confess her love to her incredibly sexy anime husbando love interest before the something-something festival? Stay tuned.
I love finding out about bizarre (to me) and specific cultural tropes like this lol, I’m glad someone explained it because I did not understand all the bread but this is very cute
My first thought was that when someone meets their soul mate at that intersection, they transform into a sandwich pair representative of the individuality of their relationship - some turned into peanut butter and grape jelly, one couple a breakfast sandwich, PB and strawberry jelly, etc.
I love the warning sign but it's clearly pointed where nobody will see it.
omgosh i have a strong urge to neatly stack all that bread
bird kiss bird kiss
Oh look! A delicious donut! Jelly-filled are my favorite!
It’s the Toast of Tardiness.

From what I can tell, this was made to be cover art for a "Mystery of the Unusual" anthology book.
In this case, the street corner is frequented by Japanese students that follow the trope of running late to school with toast in their mouths, but they crash into each other here and drop their toast.
...but what if you're late and you don't own a toaster? What happens? Expelled? Fined? Execution by firing squad?
Riceballs are an acceptable substitute, apparently.
You mean Jelly Filled Donuts?
Nothing beats a Jelly Filled Donut!
I want to know who thought that localization change was a good idea, lol.
what’s this a reference to? i can’t remember lol
Apparently entire loafs of bread too
The law states that if you don't have toast, use an alternate route no matter how late you are.
Why would people collide with each other if they are heading to the same place?
You ever try and merge onto a highway?
Not while eating bread, no
You haven't lived!
