Drivers license (test) Questions?

Licensed drivers of China, I've jumped through all the hoops to obtain my drivers license and am now just waiting to take my written exam. Those that have already taken the written test, do you have any insights or help? The Gov office didn't have any English study literature thus I'm out in the blue as far as what to expect.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Thought this was interesting "A vehicle with a military license plate may not follow any rules. It may not stop at a red light or go the wrong direction."

You are in a hurry to get to KTV do you (A) continually depress the horn (B) Drive on the sidewalk AND continually depress the horn (B) cut of traffic and act like an obnoxious dick (D) All of the above.

If you answered D you are ready to drive in China.

But seriously, this may help.

I am pretty sure you can find the test online, at least I saw people asking for it on the different expat forums..

When the laws for driving were written there were few military vehicles on the road and most of those were military trucks. So they law regulating traffic and cars specifically states that military vehicles are excluded from the laws, they should be governed by their own military police and rules. Because of this when everyone started buying private cars many army guys registered their cars through the military and have military plates and excluded from any laws about cars. If a car is legitimately registered to military personal it can not be pulled of by the cops and cannot be fined for any reason, they should not even have to pay tolls on the road. Most people abuse these rules and run red light and cops are too afraid to pull them over because if the really are military personal the cop will get in trouble for stopping them. Fake military plates are quite common because there is no way for cops to know if it is real with out calling the military

I spent two days remembering all the questions and answers from the question back, got 100 points in written test, and forgot them all one week later.

If you are in Beijing: 4 years ago I bought the book of test questions from a company called FESCO (北京外企服务集团). They helped write the English version of the test so that's why they have the questions. They are currently at this location北京市朝阳区西大望路15号外企大厦B座. Good luck!

I'm in Yangjiang, Guangdong. A bit in the other direction. No worries though I went in to take the test today and was informed they only have the Chinese version. In which case they followed up with I can bring in a "translator". Guess I won't need study materials after all!

What needs to be done to get a DL if you are a US citizen? Steps in your process?

It varies from city to city I'm told, but I'll divulge on what I know.

Option 1) you pay around 6,000RMB for a company to take care of it all for you. No questions asked. Most operations I've seen offering this service are sketchy at best.

Option 2) First you need a residents permit or business Visa with a duration over 6months. Anything less resort back to option 1. Secondly you'll need to visit your local Police office that deals with home registration. Basically they'll give you an official document stating you reside within their domain, ect ect. Once that's done print out a full forests worth of passport sized white background professional photos. I can't begin to tell you how many times we had to run back and get extra's... Snag a CD with the photo on it as well, that may ease things. Once that's done, head to your cities traffic enforcement office and show them all your paperwork (visa, residence license, US drivers license, self photos, ect). They'll make you take a traffic physical fitness test. Simple really, eye exam and hearing. If you've managed to get this far they'll issue you a date at which you can try your hand at the computer test. They didn't have an English version in my city so I was able to take my wife in and she did it for me... Side note: If your local traffic enforcement office doesn't have any on hand English speaking personnel you will have to have all your English documents translated: US drivers license and Passport. Total price was roughly 800RMB.
