Where to make platonic friends?

Other than craigslsit or city specific subreddits? It seems lar4r and socal r4r are for hooking up. Any resource will do, meetup, dating sites, etc.

Do you have any hobbies?

Because that has always been the most consistent way for me to meet people outside my "work-sphere" when moving around (I've moved continents twice as an adult, and around the US ~6 times).

If you don't have any hobbies, well, for one thing, "how?", and for another, I'd be happy to make recommendations...

Bumbles friend section?

I get hit on there so much.

I mean you mentioned dating sites. You'll get hit on if you go to those.

I'm surprised people don't make a post asking if anyone is willing to go to X place or whatever. Or just start a conversation with their own hobbies. You can't force friends. If a friend hits on you, they aren't trying to keep your friendship.

Ones things reopen completely. Consider going to spots you like based on your hobbies. You'd be surprised how nice some people are.

I just learned about this...but I'm an old fogey so don't quite understand it. So it's a section in the dating app that is purely for platonic friends? Like, it looks like a dating profile...but understood it's just for friends?

Join a local service club like Rotary or Kiwanis. There can be a lot of fun people.

Are you open to same-sex friends or only platonic?

If you're open to both, then Meetup has several groups in LA which are now slowly starting to organize in-person activities again, so you can look at those.

Can’t you have platonic, same sex friends?? Why is it or?? Doesn’t platonic basically mean non romantic/sexual

3
cld8•

I thought it meant opposite-sex non-romantic, but I could be wrong about that.

Platonic just means non-romantic, gender and sexuality have nothing to do with it.

Ah okay, thanks for clarifying.

I've made friends on r4r, we still slept together at first but realized we weren't right for each other and then just hang out and go for walks and talk about our entrepreneurial efforts together.
