Before the pandemic I used to visit relatives in San Diego using the Surfliner once a month. It was usually around $35 round trip. Now that I am vaccinated I decided to look into it again and it's $72!

There seem to be fewer trains now (6 per day) so maybe that results in higher fares? Or are they just taking advantage of people? At these prices I might as well drive myself.

Why does this website only have priority and priority express? Why not first class package, media mail, and other services? And why do they charge retail rates instead of commercial rates?

Plenty of third party websites (some of which don't charge a subscription) offer all of these things. It makes no sense that you get better prices by adding a middleman. USPS could get a lot more customers on Click-N-Ship, and save money on commissions, if they made it more competetitve relative to what other sites offer.

I was traveling last week and needed a lighter. So I popped into a supermarket to buy one. The smallest package was 2 lighters. Who is going to need 2 lighters? I bought it and now I have an extra that I don't need, and I'm sure many other people did the same. Completely wasteful but I'm sure it makes them more money.

What is the best way to get to LAX if I don't want to drive myself?

The shuttle service I used to use has been suspended due to the pandemic.

On Saturday evening I tried to get an Uber back home from downtown. $40 price, 20 minute wait. First one cancelled on me. 35 minute wait for the second one. Lyft wasn't much better. I literally got into a taxi which came out to $33.

Anyone else experienced this?
