First thing I saw was the Walter dog meme. What a man of culture, on-track incident aside.

Yes, it’s iRacing, a game, but it’s certain peoples hobbies, even including myself.

A lot of work goes into setting up for these races, especially for drivers like Anthony. To get taken out for no reason is frustrating, and not easy to get over.

Seeing these comments to “get over it” are stupid. Definitely not thinking about it from Anthony’s perspective.

this, mostly about the time it takes to prepare for these races. Teams spend many hours and hundreds of laps to set their cars up for Road To Pro races. It's not like he came in and messed up his day in C Fixed. Being angry about it is entirely justified.

sloom182:xChamp: 2020 NXS Champion Austin Cindric•

Yeah I did this race, wasn't in a split as high as them though, my team spent about 7-8 hours getting the setup right and probably like 800 laps combined.

And that's just for my team where we have like 3 full-time guys and only 7 of us tested.

<OP's perspective> I'm actually teammates with Anthony. He is one of the most consistent drivers on the service and if he didn't have connection issues at Auto Club during Pro last year, he would be in Coke right now.

OTOH, I never have personally had a run in with Hocevar before. Actually have raced him a couple of times before and has ran me clean.

But all in all, I would be fuming if I was Walter right now. </OP perspective>

Honest question - why is a full time Camping World Truck series driver racing in a "Road to Pro" race? Isn't he already doing what everyone in the Road to Pro/Coca Cola series is aiming to do?

26
zxckattack•

Well no, he's trying to potentially win tens of thousands of dollars as a Pro series driver. That exposure would also be beneficial to his NASCAR career. I don't think the Pro Series should be viewed as a stepping stone to an actual NASCAR ride.

Notsozander:12: Ryan Blaney•

Far from. Most of those guys couldn’t hop in a real car and have the balls to hang it out

A lot of them do race in real life lmao. Ryan Luza is a champion at Five Flags Speedway for example

Being good at racing games doesn't mean you'd be good in a real car. A lot of the Pro/Coke drivers live with mommy and have no career or aspirations in life beyond a mythical NASCAR ride that will never materialize.

-21
Respect38:AMS::vRoval::c6::51:•

Being the top of the slew of people that do iRacing oval racing is worth something, that definitely means they're at least--wait, why am I explaining this to you, you're just some dickbag that wants to dismiss other people's accomplishments.

13
No_Lead_Foot1999:5: Larson•

Yeah someone who is in their 20s and making $10k a year playing a video game while living with mommy and daddy sure has accomplished a lot!

Ah he still runs the Walter dog scheme I see...

25
Azure_Flare:c3: Earnhardt Sr.•

For most people in that race, people are wanting to get to the Coke series, it's more than "just a game" for those people. it isn't just a C Fixed race for them.

Steffan514:2::14::t99b::c88d:•

The way I go at it is that I take every race super serious unless it’s one of the league races I have where everyone goes at it super laid back and is 50% shenanigans.

SmithSenpaiTV:c24::c24b::c24c::21:•

Couldn't run tonight with hardware issues, but I think I might've dodged a bullet, lmao. I can't wait to see how chaotic the second round's gonna be with Knoxville, Watkins Glen, and Bristol on the schedule.

RaceFanatic96:Logo: NASCAR•

Not the first time I've seen him pull that move on iRacing..

13
NordicCLTman2:Logo: NASCAR•

IMO right-rearing someone on the straightaway is the dirtiest move in all of oval track racing. Complete stupidity. Very easy to judge someone’s racing character based off of doing that even once. Yea it’s a video game but in this race they’re trying to advance to a level that has a $300,000 purse. Not just fun and games. That kid will be banned for a long time on there

This seems to be a trend for Zeke

Wrecking dudes intentionally in a real race “is just racin” but do it in a video game and you’re Race Car Hitler

33
JesusSandals73:c14: Stewart•

It's a race to get to the professional report series. So it's a tad different then a random race. The guy he wrecked was in the top 70 to advance.

Raced with him before, he’s a wrecking ball

Playingpokerwithgod:c48b: Johnson•

Kind of a douchebag thing to do in a professional online race where $$$ is on the line. In the end it is just a game, no potential for injury and no car that needs to be repaired. However if that's how he's going to race then he shouldn't be running pro events.

Things that Bryan Clauson would have never done.

can someone, maybe briefly, outline the process or timeline required to make your way into the Road to Pro?

2
PaulRingo64:c9b::c95::5:•

You have to have a really high irating to get in the top splits of RTP. Around 5500 or so. And that’s a tough task. Once there, you race once a week for a top 20 spot in the championship that gets you to the Coke series. RTP runs on Thursday nights now.

3
ImJJboomconfetti:5::20::12::21:•

You missed a step RTP only gets you to the pro series (bcars), then if you're top 20 in that then you get to coke.
