Whats so good about going all Metal ?
The bowden tube does not touch the nozzle. So you care less about the tube slipping and causing a gap at the nozzle or heating it up to the point it melts and releases toxic gasses. Burning the PTFE wont happen with PLA but it is a concern when you heat more advance material such as ABS, Nylon, etc..
Personally I was getting a direct drive to print TPU and microswiss had a direct drive kit with the hotend. Was already upgrading it so went ahead and got the all metal hotend too.
So if I haven't had slipping issues and the bowden tube is fine up to 250C (print temp for ASA) then there's no reason to upgrade to all metal? I won't need temps above 250C.
Slippage can happen at any temp.
The temp issue is burring the end of the PTFE tubing and releasing a very toxic gas. Capricorn tubing is better as its rated up to 260c. But if your on stock tubing you shouldn't even close to 240c .
Cool thanks just wondering if there's any reason for me to consider it. I have capricorn tubing.
Check out CHEPs hotend fix if you’re worried about slippage. Mines been performing well with it.
What’s the creality one?
looks like metal extruder
Just a heads up that I experienced EXTREMELY inconsistent extrusion when I upgraded to that extruder. I printed spring spacers to get the esteps consistent.
Do you have the stl to said spacer?

I printed all of the files from the above link, but I only tested .5 and 1 mm. The 1 mm side did the trick for me.
Thanks, for your metal extruder was the spring longer than the stock one?
I honestly can’t remember. I know that it was definitely different though.
i messed up real bad cutting that tube. I didn't have the direct drive but if its not perfectly straight you get metal plastic everywhere.
lucky... mine were to arrive tomorrow but i got a email this morning from Amazon going "your shipment is DELAYED!!!!" bummer...
yeah now get the direct drive too and stop wasting money on bowden tubes and couplers forever :P
Be careful using an all-metal hotend with bowden. Retractions should be limited to 4mm max.
Why is that?
PLA tends to clog all-metal hotends when retractions are too high and/or too slow because the path to the nozzle is not PTFE-lined and if there's enough heat creep it will expand too high up the hotend and clog it.
I’ve had this happen and it sucks... I reduced retractions to 3 mm and I also have to leave my enclosure open when I print PLA
