Can I ask how long it took? I have a crow friend but it’s been months and he doesn’t trust me outside the screen yet.
I've been hanging around these crows since October, only max. twice a week though. It totally came as a surprise as I don't visit daily at all! I hope the crow starts trusting you soon.
He trusts me within a certain distance, but I also think he notices my cats in the window so that is maybe part of it. The cats like to stalk him. I always tell him that they can’t get him 🤣
Have you tried locking your cats in a room on the opposite side of the house?
It doesn’t bother me that much. And if I am able to get Mr. Crowstopher Squawkin to one day trust me, it will definitely need to be ok with him to see the cats in the window. If I have to feed him for a year before he trusts I can do it!
He can’t lock his cats in a room all day every day, the crow probably notices at random times when it passes the house
I've been feeding a threesome of crows for 3 years, daily. Just last week one took a peanut from my hand when I held it out and looked away. Mine are slow to trust!!
I’ve heard that eye contact is a huge deal. And I tend to find myself staring at him. So maybe I should try just not looking at him at all.
Oh cool! Huge deal in a good way or bad way?
I read that they don’t like it somewhere? Like maybe it represents a challenge or predator-like behavior.
Closest I’ve been able to get is about 2 feet. Might be able to hand feed if I don’t look at them.
Yayyyy! Isn't it the best feeling? Congrats on your wild animal fren. :>
Oh my god ❤️ I've been feeding "my" jackdaw frens for 3+ years now, and they don't trust me that much yet!
They're one of the cutest corvids (even though magpies will always be my favourites)
My “local” mob has crows, jackdaws, and magpies.
The crows are the most ballsy, they’ll come right up to me; they’re the ones that recognised me first. The jackdaws are a little more reserved, and far less likely to come close. The magpies... they’re strange birds! Sometimes the exact same magpies will come closer than the crows, sometimes they’ll stay far away.
The magpies are also my favourites, though
I'm so jealous! Glad they trust you! Must be awesome.
I'm so jealous! fain they trust thee! wilt beest most wondrous

Hi so jealous, I'm Dad! :)
I am so impressed by this!!! As someone who has fed ravens in my yard in NorCal for the last 3 years, I cannot imagine the time and patience it took to get these babies eating right out of your hand. They are so smart and slow to trust humans. One has to work hard for contact like this. Very cool my friend...
Congrats! That is awesome! Were you even a little worried about getting nipped on the finger?
WHY IS HE WEARING A GEORGE WASHINGTON WIG??
Don't kinkshame.
I got one of the baby ravens I feed to take food out of my hand a couple of times but he got older and more paranoid.
Crow looks like he’s wearing a neck gaiter
Isn't that a Rook?Awesome all the same though!Edit: It's a Jackdaw.
Yes, most of the crows in my area are smol jackdaws. There are two 'regular sized' crows but they are a bit shy.
