Is Worth Keeping An American Express Card?
I'm thinking about getting rid of my AMEX card as it doesn't seem to be supported everywhere and doesn't seem as big as it used to be. Is it still worth keeping?

I keep the amex gold delta card. The $100 flight voucher offsets the card fee annually so I use it. I use it for everything/as much as possible and pay off immediately. Miles aren't worth much if you can't use em (Thanks COVID), but our home airport is a delta hub, so it works.
They extended the dates to use the last $100 flight credit though! I think it’s through 12/31/21
I used mine from last year, and will use the one from this year I just earned. I had planned on using 100k miles for my wife and I to go to the UK (originally scheduled in mid 2019 for april 2020, moved the dates 3x, finally refunded all the miles).
If there is an annual fee, do a product change to a card with no fee. At the very least you can change to the American Express Blue Cash Everyday card for 3% cashback on groceries. If you spend over $3K in groceries and streaming service, the Preferred version with a $95 annual fee is worth it with a 6% cashback in those two categories.
You want to avoid closing lines of credit as it can have an adverse impact on your credit score. However if you already have other cards that are of equal age, you could probably close without much negative impact.
Quick note about the groceries reward. It does not count warehouse stores as groceries. So sams, Costco, and Walmart supercenter in store purchases will not count. If you use Walmarts online grocery ordering it will count.
Amex isn’t accepted at Costco. /sad trombone

If it is an AmEx charge card (Green, Gold, Platinum, Black/Centurion), there is no option for a no annual fee product change.

Does it come with an annual fee? If so, and you don't use it much, get rid of it or downgrade it to a no-fee card. If it's free, keep it.
That's interesting. In my region I've never had a problem with stores not taking it. And I use it to do all my grocery shopping because the one I have gives me 6% back on that.
Amex has about a 99% acceptance rate and has never been bigger. This doesn't mean much if the places you go don't take it, however.
Best to just shelf it without a balance to keep the established credit line active, helping your credit.
I use my Amex card constantly, especially when I'm traveling for work. They have the best car rental protection and Hotel benefits. They are super quick at handling descepancies and the rewards points are very good.
Which AMEX do you have?
Amex blue cash. They have the best customer service hands down in my opinion. They resolve issues quickly.

Yeah. If you don't use it then go to a fee free card. I use the hell out of mine and really get a lot out of the Membership Rewards program.
You can keep a card and not use it. Getting rid of it will reduce your line of credit and your score will go down
Valid. Thanks
Be careful that sometimes credit card companies will close your account if you don't use it for a long time, so it may be a good idea to use it for one small purchase a month, like a Netflix subscription.
