Night Owls and Ents, what fast food do you fall back on past 11pm? I'm sick of Pizza Pizza.

We usually just drive around brain storming until its so late the only place left open is pizza pizza. Even worse is delivery. What do you get late at night to satisfy the rumblies in your tumblies?

Smoke's Poutinerie in Hess is open really late. And it's AMAZING.

Yea but you can only have it once in a blue moon or your heart leaps out of your chest in a tiny fedora with tiny little leather suitcases and catches the next midnight train going anywhere.

THIS!

cheap and amazing

This place makes my mouth a happy entity with every bite.

The McDonalds at Dundurn is 24 hours, I think.

And they just opened a 24 hour Wimpy's Diner around Main and Locke - I've never been there but it looks like you can get breakfast at 3 in the morning, so it's got my support.

StoryGopherOP•

McDonald's isn't really food though. Its protein rich gruel pressed into food shaped forms. I'm going to check out Wimpy's though. I tried the Golden Griddle on fennel which is open late but you can taste the dirty grill in the food.

Not open yet.

Pita pit, montfort, basilique, sana grill.

6
pandahat•

Montefort is open until 3 a.m. Thursday - Saturday I believe. Basilique closes unreliably at midnight (sometimes they close at 11:30), Pita Pit closes around 3 on Saturdays and Fridays as well.

Pita Pit. Where my inebriated ass can get a delicious 2.99 meal at 3am.

pandahat•

Big Ed's delivers until 3 or 4 am I believe.

Queen's Pizza is the best pizza delivery place in Hamilton imo (apart from the Chicago style pizza place), they offer free delivery too.

seconding Queens. fucking mouth watering.

Is Big Ed's... food? That place is so sketchy.

1
pandahat•

I doubted it first as well. The burgers are really good though.

Delivery takes forever since it seems like there's only one person doing delivery for what appears to be 6 deliveries at a time. But the food is edible, and the price isn't bad either. Especially when you can get a 1 lb burger with fries for like $9, I think.

Which Chicago style pizza place? Moved here in in May and still learning about great places to eat.

Best pizza I've had so far in the city (but I have no idea how late they are open) is Na Roma on Locke Street. Only been there for 6 months but it is amazing.

I miss Harvest Burger. It was open until like 3am

5
StoryGopherOP•

I couldn't believe they knocked it down. That thing was like...a historic site to the city.

2
[deleted]•

Fun fact: It was an A&W before it was Harvest Burger, so in a way this is even more historic!

3
petervk•

Fun fact: it is going to be an A&W again, or at least that was the plan until they ran into all sorts of contamination in the existing structure. I don't know what is the current plan, but it sure is taking them a while.

[deleted]•

I was really hoping they'd keep the parking lot awnings and whatnot to make it into a kind of retro flagship store.

Shawarma Hut. By Tailgate Charlie's. Or taco bell, burger king or wendys. Or street meat in Hess. Or poutinerie in Hess. Many options.

4
StoryGopherOP•

Taco bell, burger king, and wendy's all close around midnight which is limiting. I've never had street meat but I've been tempted because the real thing is to die for. Is there parking in that area though?

Bk is open 24 hours. Main west near fortinos

TB is open late for drive thru. Main east at dundurn

Wow. Things have changed. Burger King on Main West was always 24 hours (but I guess with Billy Bob's closing about eight years ago, there's a lot less reason for that to be open.)

Taco Bell usually has the drive-in open 'til 2am. Same with Wendy's. They pride themselves on being open late.

There's parking around Hess, for sure, but if you go in the middle of a bar night it might be hard to get a place to settle in.

Simple Truth, though: Go find fast food near a bar, and you will find places that are open past 2am. Gino's Pizza on Main at Broadway is a perfect example.

Most of the things I'm suggesting are from my days as a drunken Mac student, though. Which are several years dated. So things do change. I just know that a lot of places (including the Subway near McMaster) stay open late to cater to drunken foot traffic.

Atlantic subs on John is open usually really late, I'll go down and get a meatball sub or assorted for like 3.50 I think, its super cheap and I like the place. Also fuck the subway across the street, a subway is a subway everywhere you go.

2
StoryGopherOP•

I hate quiznos because their meat tastes really cheap. Like really. I like Taco Bell and Arby's to put that into perspective.

Jimmy Gringo's in Westdale. Large steak burrito hits the spot any time of day.

National Pizza (king and james)

After Hess, me and my friends would go there and just drench slices in that white sauce then eat like animals on the corner.

2

Metro in Westdale is open 24 hours, they usually have sandwiches and stuff or you can buy like meats and cheese and put it together at home.

1
theninjasquadKirkendall•

I feel like Tally Ho on Main W is likely open late.

1
Skitzafreak•

Late night food time? If you don't feel like cooking yourself something, and don't want Pizza Pizza or McDonalds, I think there is an asian restaurant that is open until like 3am on the corner of Fennel and Upper Wentworth. Don't quote me on that though, haven't been down in the area for a while.

Ever bought Roma's pizza at Metro at 2 in the morning? I remember buying a slab and devouring half of it in one sitting.
