It creates so much seethe that a train who wrote a short story called "I sexually identify as an attack helicopter" got cancelled. The story was about a military project that melded soldiers minds with vehicles so that the soldiers got a sexual thrill from killing. The train author had to go into hiding basically.

What else do they really have? It's not like the party has produced any coherent policy for the last 20 or so years, probably longer.
All they have is cultural signalling and grievance at social progress.
The biggest issue for the GOP is their voters all prefer left-wing policy, so they need some way to keep said voters supporting them, and grievance politics do that.
