Hi everyone,
Has anyone here recently experienced issues with receiving double text notifications on AA with a Galaxy S21?
My app of choice is Textra and I've recently started to receive double notifications. One from Textra, and one from the stock messaging app.
Has anyone had problems with this? It's quite annoying to see when driving.

Take away AA sms permission and it's fixed. Had the same problem using pulse sms

Was just coming back to say this, I tried this and it seems to fix the double notification
Yep I've been having that too. I haven't been for a drive since changing the setting, but I think I remember something about disabling messages in android auto settings which is just the setting for the default messages app. Still need to go drive and get a text to test
Update: this does not work. Leave messages enabled in the settings and instead deny the sms permission for the app
Doesn't work because AA says Textra is not supported when trying to listen to a message when sms perms are disabled. It was never like this till a few updates ago.
Doesn't work for me either. Been broken a couple of months now. I get double notifications in AA as well, one from textra and one from Google messages. Tapping on either will play the message for me. The options to enable/disable SMS for AA was removed from Textra in the last handful of months and AA can only enable/disable ALL SMS. Denying all notification permissions for goggle messages doesn't stop AA showing them still. Turning off textras permissions would stop them on phone as well so no go there... anyone find a solution that works currently??

So I've uninstalled and reinstalled and will find out tomorrow (cause I'm too lazy to go out to my car and test it lol😅)
Thanks, I eagerly await your results. I assume you did NOT lose any previous messages and did NOT have to re-download them from a Google backup? (I have a massive text history and don't want to lose them)
Of course. But, isn't that because you're car asks for access to messages when you pair with BT... So you get notified via BT, then AA?
I've just stopped granting BT access - even though my phone constantly asks for it.

Just Textra. Whatsapp doesn't give me an issue.
Have you disabled Textra to see if the issue persists with the stock messaging app. If there is no issue after you disable it then the problem is with Textra and not AA.

Any update to this? Using a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and the double SMS notifications are driving me nuts.
This is my exact dilemna
I am having the same issue on my Galaxy S21 and using Textra as my primary text messenger app. Duplicate texts all of the time only in Android Auto.
Same issue. No idea how to fix it.
