VOTE: Keepers

It wouldn't be a dynasty league if we didn't keep players from year to year. The point of such a league is to have varying strategies. Would you rather have Bryce Harper or Josh Hamilton? In a 1 year league, the answer is obvious. In a dynasty league, not so much.

Obviously if we do implement the concept of a "dynasty" player (see this voting thread), those would be automatically kept by definition.

So we could say you keep X number of players from your major league roster (you'd keep all minor leaguers that haven't graduated to the majors automatically).

Or we could say you keep X number of players, but the round you selected them in matters (e.g. if you take Longoria in Round 1, and you want to keep him next year, you forfeit a Round 1 selection in next year's draft).

Or we could say you keep X number of players, but the round you selected them in DECREASES (e.g. if you take Michael Cuddyer in Round 4...if you want to keep him next year you forfeit a Round 3 selection).

Also, I think it is fair that you get to keep minor leaguers that do graduate to the majors for a certain "window", just as MLB teams have their "pre-arbitration" and "arbitration eligible" players. I think the full 6 pre-arb/arb years would be a bit long, because, there's a non-slim chance this league doesn't exist for that long :) Past this window, you would still be able to keep the minor leaguers, but they would count toward your normal keeper total.

(NOTE: "Graduating" to the majors, means losing rookie eligibility. So if someone comes up for a few at-bats in September, this does not necessarily mean they are not still considered a minor leaguer).

So again, I will post a few permutations of the ideas above into the comments below and you guys can vote or make your own suggestions. If the concept of a dynasty player is voted on, these suggestions below will be in ADDITION to that.

EDIT: Saying "Keep 10 Major Leaguers" really means keeping UP TO 10. You would have the option to, say, only keep 8 and thus draft 2 times before anyone who kept 10.
