Tips for those who are new to D4DJ Groovy Mix
For those who just started playing English version (or Japanese version) D4DJ Groovy Mix for the first time or just casually, here are some tips based on my 6 month experience playing the JP version as a free to play player.
- Max out your Club item level as soon as possible.
- Only use disks that would boost you highest power member rather than the whole unit. For example, if you have a full Happy Around! unit with Muni as the most powerful member, you can boost you unit power more if you use a disk that would boost Muni's power rather than a disk that would boost all Happy Around! member's power.
(May 30, 2021 01:10 UTC Edit: As of right now, there are only four disk that will boost the power of all member of a specific unit in the EN version, which are only for Photon Maiden for the D4DJ Photon Maiden TV show on the D4DJ JP youtube, alongside the member specific disk as of this moment. These disks can be found in the Special Exchange section in the Exchange shop. This tip will become more relevant if Doughnut decide to add more unit specific disks in the future, but as of right now, only Photon Maiden and member specific disks) - Only use diamonds for the event/special Gachas. I don't recommend spending your diamonds with the standard gacha.
- Unless you are trying save diamonds for a future event, try to get at least bronze rank by the end of each month in the mileage rank, mainly to get songshells (will come in handy for #8). You can level up your mileage rank by spending diamonds on Gachas.
- When building your unit for common use, like a main unit that will give you the highest total power, prioritize the cards by the unit, the number of stars, then the style.
- When building a unit for an event, prioritize the cards by the event unit member, the event style, then the number of stars. For example, if the event uses Merm4id members and the cute style, you can earn more point by using only 3 star cute Merm4id members at max level than a full 4 star unit with Merm4id with different styles. I would discourage the use of a unit that only focuses only on the event style, like a unit that all have the cute style but are not the event members, unless if it will earn you the most points.
- Log into the game every day and at the bare minimum, get the free 5 voltage, like another person's club, exchange something at the exchange store, and get the items you earn by doing these three things in the daily missions. By doing this everyday, the amount of voltage and items you get from the daily/weekly missions and log-in bonuses will start to stack up within a few weeks. Plus, you can earn 50 diamonds from the weekly missions every week by logging in 5 different days in a week.
- I would recommend exchanging 1 songshell for the Energy drink 5 that resets every day. You should have enough songshell from the log-in bonus of the mileage rank and events.
- At the minimum, earn enough event points to earn the 3 star member from each event. Overtime, you should have enough 3 stars members from the events that would meet both the requirement for the event member and style in a future event.
- Try to get as much diamonds as possible without spending your money. The game gives you plenty of ways to get diamond and gacha tickets via log-in bonuses, daily and weekly missions, achievements, stories, events, and by playing the songs on either hard or expert level (each difficulty will have their own set of rewards, so if you can earn a maximum of 400 gems for each song. Some practice is required).
I know that most players just play the game casually, but I would recommend these tips for anyone who is playing the game as a free to play, or even a pay to win, player. Hope this helps
If you have any questions about the game, feel free ask and I will try and answer your question.
May 29, 2021 01:42 UTC Edit: Since a lot of people have been asking me on how they should build a unit, I made another post going into more detail about the my process when creating a unit here.
June 9, 2021 21:45 UTC Edit and Important Update: Edit the first paragraph to match the flair. Also, Moderator CadenzaElegy have stickied a very helpful guide about the basics of the game down below as a temporary solution before being added to the Weekly Free Talk Megathread when it is released. Please check it out to see if your question can be answered there first. I highly recommend asking any questions you have on the Weekly Free Talk Megathread when it is released so other users can also answer your question. I may sometimes pop in to answer some questions as well. If you have any questions in regard to my tips from this post when the Megathread is released, feel free to continue asking me question up until this post gets archived. But before the Megathread gets released, feel free to ask any questions here or by posting a post with the question flair.
