Got me a Grognak's axe yesterday that I can swing 40% faster... so into the scrap bin goes my old Grognaks Axe...
Now... is that JUST a 40% reduction in time between pressing the button, and the weapon hitting? Or is it a 40% reduction in time between attacks, resulting in more DPS?

It let's you pull the trigger faster, there for hitting more often. Giving you a 40% dps boost
That's a shit-ton of damage. Geez.
the swing animation is faster by 40% from the time you start the attack till the end of the animation.
faster swing => more swings => enemies die faster
DPS (or damage per swing in this case) is affected by other things.
DPS... "damage per second"... no?
That's why I ask... if I am getting 40% more swings, then my DPS goes way up. I
yeah, you are right, more swings means more DPS.
The former, I believe.
As a melee, IMHO swing speed is the best effect for melee weapons, even more so then any first star effect.
