Synology NAS - Can't Use local IP anymore

I used to be able to map network drives in Windows 10 with the IP and up until today, the pre-existing mappings worked. I had to update some accounts and permissions in the NAS control panel, which meant I needed to remap the shares. Now the local IP doesn't find the NAS, though the hostname does. I know this shouldn't bother me, but I am used to the IPs of all of my devices, not the hostnames. Has anyone encountered this?

Did you use a static ip for the synology or have you been running on the dhcp address this whole time?

Static IP leased through the pfsense firewall. I can ping the NAS as well.

Ping via hostname, IP, or both?

I am able to ping both successfully.

I had this same thing happen to me a few days after initially setting up my DS1621+. I believe I turned off and back on the SMB service on the synology.

It's really strange that the IP mapping doesn't work though. Does the Synology report that it's using your IP?

Oh ok, you got it. If not….I have already seen the problem with another customers and solved it with turning off the smb sync in old control panel under sync center. Secondly turn the Windows shares offline cache off. Additional there is a offline cache folger you can clear. I dont know the path at the moment. Maybe someone helps the tipp.

I dont think its a synology based problem.
