Same reasoning (WADA) is being applied to ban Russia (Ian Nepomniachtchi) from playing with its flag in the world chess championship (and banned the anthem) in November 2021. As someone who follows chess & has a warm attitude to Russia, it is incredibly heartbreaking & infuriating.

I don’t think it should be banned, but it is owned by an American media corporation which is why we’re seeing so much western rhetoric being pushed.
