She is absolutely right about the UK being one of the least racist places in the world.
When I was working (2008-2009) in the middle east there was a lot of racism around. As a White person I didn't see too much as they see us as "almost equal", so long as you knew where to avoid. But the way a lot of the South Asian service/hospitality workers were treated was pretty grim.
We often used to frequent a small café run by South Asians out there and we got the red carpet rolled out for us every time and all it took was treating them with the respect so lacking from the indigenous population.
I won't go in to my experiences working in the USA as I think that's well trodden ground.
I also spent a couple of weeks working in Norway and I can't really remember seeing many minorities at all.
The UK of course has more work to do, but I genuinely believe we manage diversity very well.
Interesting opinion.
Keeps the bills paid.
Bit of a provocative title but I though the interview was very interesting. She points out that "a lot of the behaviours which people ascribe to white people you still see in Nigeria".
The UK is one of the most tolerant places worldwide, and theres many places where there is significantly more racism from dominant culture to minorities, whether that be black, white, Asian or indigenous
Controversial opinion but it’s usually the non white countries that are more racist. Not to say white countries don’t have problems and there are white countries that are incredibly racist (Eastern Europe) but Western countries tend to be very tolerant.
Edit: Is it not? I see the downvotes. I’d love to be proven wrong.
Most tolerant place worldwide. Genuinely think that most people who complain about UKs racial issues need to look at other countries first. It's way worse even in spain
The problem is that there are still genuine racial issues in the UK. They may be les impactful than other countries but they still exist.
