Does opening a shelter door initiate PvP?
I ask because I opened one last night at someone's CAMP, not locked... and I got a "you have turned pacifist mode off" notice.
Is this a thing?

I don't remember my pacifist mode getting turned off last time I went into a shelter, but idk honestly.

and some other text that, paraphrased, amounted to "pvp can happen in shelters" .
It was NOT the same popup as you get when claiming a workshop.

Do you have Master Infiltrator? If you did and they had a level 0 lock, it would be easy to unlock it without realizing.

Nope. I actually have NO lock pick perks on this character.

That's a new one to me and my pacifist is always on even after going through many shelter doors. The only time mine has been off is when I reset my game settings after screwing with what quests auto activate.

Was to me too. I play all my characters with pacifist on. Never seen this.

First time you enter it tells you. No idea why it's only the once

It’s happened to me and my girlfriend in our private world. The moment we entered our shelters we got that message, which really confused us.

Yeah this happened to me the first time I ever entered a shelter, at something like level 8 I think. I avoided entering shelters for weeks after that and even put a post up on here about it to make sure I wasn't gonna get killed every time I went into someone's shelter 😂

believe it or not, shelters are pvp zones, but if you get killed you don't lose your junk.
