Does anyone else have a problem boob?

Breastfeeding was a rough start for us but we’re doing okay now at 4 months. I don’t love it like so many people do, and if formula wasn’t so expensive or inconvenient for my busy lifestyle I would gladly switch. All mainly because of my left boob which I think must be possessed by some sort of mini demon. I’ve had mastitis in it twice and constantly get clogs or engorgement, it’s also like 18x more sensitive against clothing than my other one. Also my daughter has a bad habit of mauling it with her little gums, especially at night. I absolutely hate feeding on that side but if I don’t it leaks like a goddam faucet so I grit my teeth and do the damn thing. I also get restless leg syndrome when I nurse on that side it’s so weird.

Anyways it was doing ok for a bit after the last bout of mastitis but the past two weeks have been hell. I’ve been dealing with vapospasms and a clogged duct right at the tip which turned into a little wound and keeps opening up and scabbing over again, so I’ve had to go back to using a nipple shield to protect myself from my daughters attacks and keep her from sucking down too much blood. It also stabs me with pain randomly throughout the day like girl please chill out. I was in so much pain last week that I just sat there and cried while I was feeding my baby. Mostly just venting but I want to chop the bitch off and be free of it so if anyone has any advice please hit me with it. 😩

Oh my gosh yes! This is me! I haven't has mastitis (yet. I feel like it's only a matter of time before I can't get a clog cleared) my daughter is 11 weeks tomorrow and I feel like I'm still waiting for it to get better. I'm sorry I totally understand what you're going through. I have really bad vasospasms and they are so painful! I feel like my nipple is white more often than not and the only thing that helps is taking a shower. I have clogs almost everyday and my boobs just constantly feel uncomfortable and hurt. I too wanna know how long till they fricking feel better.

Ugh solidarity 😭 I just read somewhere that sleeping on it might be part of the problem. I always sleep on my left and I’m wondering if that might be true. Currently in the middle of an experiment to see if sleeping on my back or other side makes a difference

I sleep on my left side too and it definitely puts clogs in my left boob and the left side of my right boob where they squish together lol. I try really hard to fall asleep on my back but then it just seems like I get clogs in different places.

Are you sure it isn’t thrush? I had it for weeks only on one side and it was the worst burn/sting feeling ever. It would burn and felt like sand paper rubbing even after feeding. My doctor had me use All Purpose Nipple Ointment (recipe on google) and eventually fluconazole to clear it up.

Honestly I’m starting to suspect that. No signs of it in baby’s mouth but I do have a doctors appointment on Monday where I was going to ask him about it

Definitely ask! My baby somehow never got it and from looking at me, my nip was red and had a shine around it. I would have never guessed it was thrush.

Okay mine looks like that but I wasn’t sure if it was just red from being pissed off at me all the time! I get yeast infections easily so thrush on my nipples as well wouldn’t surprise me

Same problem, mastitis twice, cracked nipple, pain with every feed, dreaded feeding on that side. I started doing a "cracked nipple protocol" with a prescribed antibiotic ointment covered by a piece of Saran wrap after every feed. It helped so much. I would've quit if it weren't for that.

I’m going to ask my doctor for a cream because I’ve tried the Saran Wrap thing with normal nipple cream and it just isn’t making a difference
