Anyone else get a bit sad every time they have to adjust the rise snaps? My almost one year old is now on the last snap row of her LPO and Stout House diapers, while her Mama Koala and Bum Genius are all the way open. It made me weirdly emotional this morning to adjust them and for her to be one step closer to growing out of her diapers. Posted here because no one else would understand 😭

My child is starting child care soon, two days a week at a friends house. They do cloth with their daughter and will with mine as well. I’m placing an order for new inserts on alvababy because I need to start doubling up as she gets older, and noticed a good price on their diaper pods… they’re cute but are they any more convenient than just packing some diapers in a reusable grocery bag? I kinda want one just because I’m addicted to buying cloth diaper related items, but if they’re not really worth using I won’t bother. Just looking for opinions from people who’ve used them :)

Not sure where else to ask this question.

Does anyone know what happens to my accumulated vacation time at my workplace if I quit before the end of my maternity leave? I’m entertaining a new job possibly with an interview this week but I have 72 hours of vacation and 2 hours of overtime I never got a chance to use before I went on maternity leave. Would my workplace have to pay that out or would I lose it entirely since I’m technically not on payroll if I would quit now?

I still have 2 months left of maternity leave technically but I would end it early for this job opportunity

Edit: I’m in Manitoba if that makes a difference

Any other Canadian lifeguards feeling rattled from the announcement that the Red Cross is phasing out swimming and water safety/lifeguarding and handing it over to lifesaving society. 98% of my pool’s programming is Red across and now we have to switch everything and retrain all our staff 💀

Spoilers so look away if you don’t want it but I wish someone had given me a heads up!

There is a pretty violent death of an infant in Episode 7 at the 48 minute mark. Watch with care if that may be triggering

My 8month old has been pulling to stand since 6 months and is now just starting to let go and balance on her own for a few seconds. Today for the first time she even take a few steps which were somewhat intentional but more just reflex as she sorta fell towards me, if you know what I mean. I know all babies are different but just wondering when yours started walking after this development?

Favourite inserts?

Recommendations

I have a stash of used pocket diapers that will probably need upgraded inserts soon as all the ones I have are microfibre and some of them are getting old. What are your favourites? Bamboo? Hemp? Cotton?

I only cloth diaper during the day and while we’re home, we use disposables for night and when leaving the house so they don’t necessarily have to be the highest quality or super crazy absorbency. Looking for a balance of inserts that could last awhile without being crazy expensive. Not interested in charcoal.

Thanks!

I’ve posted a few times about wanting to quit breastfeeding because of recurring pain but switching to formula full time was too much of a big shift and I felt like I was being dramatic so I kept going, with some formula feeds now to lighten the load. Anyways, I have had the same problem happen over and over again to my nipples and I don’t know why. It was just the one side but now recently they’ve switched. At least it’s not both at the same time… yet.

The pattern is as follows: -starts with stinging while feeding -progresses to burning while feeding and then for some time after -hurts to nurse, can barely tolerate clothes touching -extreme pain, almost crying while nursing, cracked nip

My baby will be 6 months soon and I always thought I would exclusively breastfeed. Not because I care as much about the bond or passing on antibodies or any of that stuff but because it’s cheaper and more convenient. But I’ve been plagued with issues, especially on one side, the whole time and there’s only so many times I can sit awake at 5am crying while baby feeds from my sore breast before I give it up entirely. I have an appointment in two weeks with my doctor for baby’s 6 month shots so I’ll bring up my issues and see if there’s an underlying problem I’m missing this whole time.

But in the meantime can anyone help with my questions? Mainly is it actually really inconvenient to formula

Breastfeeding was a rough start for us but we’re doing okay now at 4 months. I don’t love it like so many people do, and if formula wasn’t so expensive or inconvenient for my busy lifestyle I would gladly switch. All mainly because of my left boob which I think must be possessed by some sort of mini demon. I’ve had mastitis in it twice and constantly get clogs or engorgement, it’s also like 18x more sensitive against clothing than my other one. Also my daughter has a bad habit of mauling it with her little gums, especially at night. I absolutely hate feeding on that side but if I don’t it leaks like a goddam faucet so I grit my teeth and do the damn thing. I also get restless leg syndrome wh
