Cheap/reliable movers?
We're moving a whole 10 minutes away in a few weeks, and would prefer to just hire people to do the heavy lifting.
Anyone have any good recommendations for movers?

Cheap and fast are day workers outside uhaul
I used college movers for a local move. 70 per hour for 2 Unlv students. They were excellent as well.
I've used Move 4 Less twice. Very happy with their service and pricing.
We used Red Capret Moving. It was like 3 hours and cost us like $300, it went a little over the 3 hours and technically they should have charged us for 4 hours due to the agreement but they hooked us up and charged us only for 3. The 2 guys that came worked their asses off and got everything done quickly and efficiently.
You could try the Thumbtack app. We found good movers there 2 years ago.
We just moved with Christopher Moving. Great guys. Showed up on time & didn't cost very much compared to most movers I've used.
Whatever you do don’t using Uhaul’s moving help. Uhaul partners with local movers and they only thing they accomplish is incompetence. It’s embarrassing to work for uhaul and get asked about actual movers.
I've only had good experiences with moving help.
Stroke of luck. Probably 30-40% of customers don’t have a problem.
I also used movinghelp when moving here, both for loading the truck in TX and unloading here. Zero complaints with either crew. However, both times, I only picked crews that had extensive positive reviews and not the lowest cost people.
Yeah still dumb luck. The system doesn’t at all at any point have the movers schedule in it. It allows movers to be infinitely booked so if 5 people book on Saturday morning and the company can only handle 3 then 2 families are SOL. Then the movers don’t do refunds, uhaul does. So the 2 unlucky families have to call uhaul customer service who then have to call the movers. Takes 2-14 business days to get a refund since only certain uhaul employees can process Uhaul’s and movinghelp.com ONLY has chat agents, no phone number what so ever. So I’m glad you got lucky but the company is a complete joke.
The last two times I moved I used, happily, the same company. You failed to mention some important factors (besides moving 10 minutes away): how much "heavy" stuff do you have? Are there stairs involved? (I've always moved from a 2nd floor apartment to a 2nd floor.) A lot of details about your move are needed to provide a fair and accurate quote.
You could rent a Uhaul and hire some guys off the street for cheap. Or you could employ a reputable moving company (insured, bonded, licensed) for not cheap. Pick your poison.
I used triple 7 movers last time and they were absolutely excellent. Moved a 2 bedroom to another 2 bedroom in about half a day for around $600
I used them on my last move. They called the day of my move and said they wouldn’t be able to make it. Offered to move me the next day using 4 men at $150/hr. Jumped on that right away as I was moving 2000 sqft.
