Picture taken in London, UK. These guys are sadly an invasive species here and very successful at that. They outcompete the native ladybirds / ladybug beetles and sometimes kill them outright. Contrary to ladybirds, they like to gather in crowds, especially in or near human residences when it gets colder. They can bite (more like scrape - it's not very painful) and emit a foul smelling orange liquid when they feel threatened.
Invasive here as well (Ont. Can.) Spring and fall my place gets swarmed by these little assholes. Thousands of them. The wife and I will spend days vaccuuming up from all the windows.
