just investigating the options for a new gaming (and work) PC and would really appreciate if someone could sanity check my configuration to make sure I'm not committing some kind of idiocy in terms of models, performance, or price. Total price (incl VAT and delivery) is 3020 GBP (~4100 USD). Aside from gaming, the heaviest use would be compiling C#, and running some python and R scripts for statistical modelling.

Hi all. My Birdfy Nest is currently recording a moment every 3 minutes because a blue tit is brooding (yay!). But the solar panel can't keep up and the battery is almost gone. I have seen and read about a moment settings section in the device settings where I could change the duration between recordings. But that section isn't available in my app. Anyone know where this is gone or if there's a way to just pause recordings completely to give the battery time to recharge?

Previous owner left quite a few wardrobes and drawers in a house we're renovating. Thought it would be easiest to donate them - easily 300-400 quid for them and we get rid of stuff that we don't need. Win-win, I thought, and booked the collection online. They confirm the day quickly and tell me they'll let me know in the morning of collection day when they'll be there. I ring them up and ask for a rough timeslot. They can't tell me. I ask if they just expect me to take the whole day off so I can donate furniture to them. Answer "Yeah, pretty much." I'm thinking about cancelling the order just for the bloody cheek.

FTB, so very unfamiliar with any of these processes.

We've had a few difficulties with our solicitors that have just reached (I think) a new height. We just (5th September) received the "CON29 Replies to Enquiries of the local authority" form. The form has an issue date of 16th July (7 weeks and 2 days ago). I called and (politely) asked for an explanation for the delay. I only got the assistant who got a bit flustered and only said "well we're dealing with other things as well". I do appreciate that they have other clients but am I really wrong to think >7 weeks is completely unreasonable to check the replies and forward them to us?

I ordered a Meta Quest 2. The driver handed the parcel to me after giving him the one-time code. I pretty immediately opened it and found only a blanket and a tickle-me Elmo doll in there. I looked out the window and the van was already gone (it takes quite some time to get down the stairs and out from my flat so the driver must have walked very fast). After a long time talking to a bad AI, I managed to get through to Amazon customer service and they said they would open an investigation, which would take 3 days.

I build some applications for work but I'm not a developer, so I need some help with the next project. Please excuse any lack of knowledge.

I currently run experiments online - think of them as small games. They are developed in Unity and presented via WebGL. I currently host this on a VPS (amazon lightsail) and the data just gets recorded as CSVs directly on the server. This has served me well but the experiments are becoming more complex and I've started running some for other people as well that need to access the data, so it's time to build a proper stack.

About 30 minutes ago I noticed some text artefacts while watching youtube videos that looked like this:

As you can see in the second screenshot, the artefacts disappeared when highlighting the text. The artefacts only appeared on my second monitor and disappeared when dragging the window back onto my main screen. It also only seemed to affect firefox (and possibly only specific fonts as it didn't happen on google or reddit except for italic text) and I couldn't see any artefacts in windows explorer. While taking the above screenshots my laptop rebooted automatically.

I'm trying to decide between these models:

• ACER Predator Helios 300 17.3" for 1300 GBP
• ASUS TUF F17 for 1000 GBP

Both have an i7-11800H, RTX 3060 and 1GB SDD.

The Helios seems to have better reviews in terms of thermals and build but the TUF is 300 quid cheaper. I like the additional 1 GB HDD, HDMI, and USB-C on the Helios but could live without.

I like the lid more on the TUF (for being less obtrusive at work)

It seems that the definition of an alcohol is a hydroxyl group bound to a carbon atom. All carbohydrates have such a group, so are all sugars technically alcohols or am I misunderstanding something? Even things like Ibuprofen seem to be alcohols then?

Also, when I'm looking at a bond line diagram, is HO the same as OH and if not, what is the difference? And would HO count as a hydroxyl group?

This is an infuriating behaviour that costs me a lot of time when, for example, cropping a video. I place one border of the selection box where I want to crop my video on that side. Then I want to move in the other border of the selection box to where I want to crop the video on that side. But moving one side also move the opposite side, so now the side that I placed first isn't where I want it to be. Is there a way to just move one side without the other one moving as well? Alt, Ctrl or Shift don't work.
