Watchman IMO. Sustained damage with the DoTs and some passive healing off their damage. Also nice damage boost with Juyo form.

This is the common wisdom. People seem to whine about Combat.

I tried combat early on and it was doable but with the burst damage its feast or famine and the fights are much more chaotic. With Watchman the fights just flow better

Make sure you're keeping your focus up and using your high damage abilities like Master Strike and Blade Storm and Riposte when it comes up. Use Rebuke on cooldown cause that reduces your damage and deals damage back to attackers. Also be sure to use Cauterize and Saber Overload to keep the burns up cause that's the main hallmark of Watchman is the DoTs. Force Stasis is nice cause it's like a CC and damage and gives you a bit of a break.

I personally went Focus/Rage on my Sith Warrior, due to the AOE synergy and Zealous Leap/Obliterate.

I feel like this spec does alot of burst, which, to me, is more useful in PvE leveling.

Things are working out OK, but as Sith Warrior, you don't get a tank pet for a while, so you get your dick punched in for a solid 35 levels or so...and sadly, the first tank pet you get is a wet rag, as far as story/personality are concerned.

I'd much rather have T7 :(

I would say definitely the center tree.

In mmo's, and this is no exception, damage over time gets hosed and is very situational. They can't make it better in long encounters, because that would make them overpowered for raiding. So generally, they are weak in super short fights, because even if you have time to cast 3 dots on a mob, likely only one of those is really ticking for long.

I am leveling middle tree, whatever that's called, and it's very well suited for leveling. You HAVE TO hit your cooldowns, but it is very good at dealing with the burstiness of being dps in general. Everyone crits, but if you are largely single target largely burst dps, you can quickly switch targets with no penalty, and you are in a position to actually get benefit out of the unpredictable beneficial events.

It's very chaotic, I will admit. You have to react very quickly on the fly to get it to work well, and you HAVE TO control your pet. It is a complete waste of time to blade storm a guy with even 80% health if your companion is also targeting it. But generally, it's very good dps that is suitable for any fight, unlike watchman, which seems to me to greatly favor fighting strongs and elites.

Oh yeah, and I would also add:

Juyo form is borderline impractical. It takes a long time to get rolling if you lose it, and 15 seconds is very short if you intend to loot, gather a node or two, and say, someone else is also farming so you have to run past a group of mobs to find another.

For leveling, Ataru form is by miles the best, becuase even if they did identical damage, it has absolutely zero ramp up time and gives you move speed, which is extremely useful even after you have your speeder. Less so in SWTOR than other games because you can't just walk over to a gathering node while beating on a mob if the mob is ranged, but even so, moving is something everyone does a lot.
