Filming play - What type of setup?

Playing advice and videos

I am trying to improve my game through reviewing game play video. What type of setup are people using? GoPro? Phone? And what perspective/angle works the best?

Phone, rubber bands, tripod. The biggest problem is courts aren't deep enough to get the perfect angle. But for short dollars, it works.

Yeah the higher the better.

all filmed with cheap go-pro clone and telescoping pole hanging on top of fence.

That looks good. I have a GoPro and clip mount that should work on a chain link fence.

The camera is a yi action camera. The pole is a QM-1 Camera Fence Mount

The most important characteristic of the camera is that it records in one single file until the battery is dead (which is approx 2 hours). Some players have better cameras but the recorded file size is restricted and they have to stop and start after each game.

Phone with holding arm or tripod work well

DJI Pocket 2 works fine too, probably better than GoPro for the same money.

Have you used DJI Pocket to film? It can track a subject which could be useful.

I just started. Getting used to video taping. I did not do that before.
Overall it is an awesome camera with very wide angle, slow motion, without a problem of tilted horizon (typical for phone-taped videos). Subject tracking is useless in pickleball, unless you shoot some instructional video of course.YouTube has so many DJI Pocket 2 reviews, I would not say anything else.

I use a Gopro hero 9 black with a wide angle lens for ally my videos.

I have a couple of different mounts I use to find interesting ways to frame the court. Best view is high from directly behind baseline, second best is high looking straight across the net.

Cheaper go pro type camera on an 11 foot light stand. Angled down and as close to the fence as possible but off to the side of the service area. If feeling squirrely I’ll add a second one about 6 feet out shoot ing straight down the net, but I have had players run into that one. Both have wide angle lenses. Not going to let my phone possibly get run over by a player.

Whatever you do, buy sturdy stands/gear. Had a friend buy cheap and he never stopped complaining over it falling apart or getting stuck. I warned him. 🤷🏻‍♂️
