Any Suggestions for Good Schools in/around Greenville?

I'm considering a job offer in Greenville area. I wondered if anyone could suggest good school districts in the area. In particular, middle schools.

Also any other advice on neighborhoods to consider would be most appreciated. We've looking at Greer and Simpsonville. Good? Bad?

Thanks for this and your other response.

So you can send your kid to any school in the district? Or are you zoned into a specific school based on your address, as we are where I live now?

You are zoned, but we have school choice. You basically just have to request a school change. The only time it isn't approved is if the school is full and they'll implement a lottery system for those students and you'll be notified my mail.

You have a zoned school based on home address. I put link to the "find my school" page below.

Then families have choice and magnet school applications they can complete - those are typically completed in December so I don't know if you can still complete this. You are not guaranteed a spot, but you have requested. Spaces are limited and some very popular schools take very few choice students (no room). I included a link to a 2019 story about which schools have the biggest choice wait-list (2020 couldn't find#). For middle schools one middle school that is a high choice school not listed- Fisher Middle- because its student body is almost ALL choice (like 90%). It was built as a choice school to help with overcrowding at the most crowded middle schools. Their choice metrics are slightly different than the others as they prioritize students at the most overcrowded schools.

Anderson School district one covers parts of northern Anderson County. Depending upon which list you read it often ranks in the top ten school districts in the state.

Wren Middle School and Powdersville Middle School feed students to Wren High School or Powdersville High School.

There are more homes being built in that area all the time. Addresses could show as the part of Easley in Anderson County, Powdersville, and some Piedmont addresses northwest of I85.

Green Charter is really good. They need more teachers too

There’s a lower campass, and an upper campass. The lower one goes from kindergarten to sixth grade, and the upper one goes from 7th to 12th. They use block schedule, but they have an “a day/b day schedule. Every day you alternate between a set of four classes, so you’re able to take 8 classes in total.
