The creativity of the people in this sub blows my mind!

It's all trial-and-error. And stealing this or that from other people's builds.

I never understand how you guys can build so high. If I stack more than 5/6 stone blocks on top of each other, they topple. Every. Single. Time. Even staggered like bricks like you have

You have to add wood iron poles

LookAtMeImAName•

Well fuck me. That’s gunna take a lot of iron mining. At least I know now!

A different tip - if you don't care about interior space, part fill towers with raised ground - the raised ground counts as a base, letting you go a lot higher

Pro-tip:use iron gates INSIDE the stone walls. They're 3m high compared to the 2m iron beams. The gates reinforce the stone and give you 1.5x the height per piece for structural integrity. You can build skyscrapers using this method.

We must protect it at all costs.

I went looking for this exact comment.

That's lovely, I quite like that it landed on the ocean as well allowing a dock build. Are you planning to create double-walls all around?

One of our group is building a stone dock just off to the right-side of the picture at this moment. I like projects that get the entire "tribe" involved.

Sautun•

Love it! How do you get a picture from this angle? And how are you preventing the exposed wood from deteriorating?

6
mithrollOP•

We use Valheim Plus on our server. You can turn off wood damage due to weather. I also use a client-side mod that allows you to move your camera around freely. It's very useful for building low-lying items - like underwater dock supports.

Thanks for answering, bro. What is Valheim Plus? Sounds like I definitely need that lol.

It's a overhaul of a few different things including building. It let's you do 3 axis rotation IIRC, among other things.

Also wood only breaks down halfway from weather.

2
Sautun•

Oh fr? I thought it completely decayed. Thanks!

My goal someday is to build Minas Tirith

2

Would love to see that!

Cutting down oaks in this game always feels like a crime

3
mithrollOP•

THIS! I agree.

We had a really lovely oak near our base and ended up accidentally smashing it down.

Trolls took our birch :(

Nice.

You using mods? Otherwise all wooden parts will rot under the rain.

1
KoburaCape•

Only halfway

Still visible damage that really make the build feel more of a abandond castle then a living home

Game of throne theme intensifies!

Dope. And slick photo bomb there

1
DaMuchi•

need to thicken the walls on the side. single brick stone walls with enormous turrets at its end is just jarring.

1
mithrollOP•

Good idea. It'll give me something to do over the weekend!
