i'll certainly work on my rhyming schemes. thank you for the response

This poem has a strong message, about how people are fleeting and move on with their lives even when you don't meet them anymore. And it conveys that message well through being direct.
I also like the inventation to show kindness to those people, as it adds sentiment to the poem.
But what I don't like is that there isn't any rhyme scheme, as it detracts from the poem, in my opinion. And because there are no rhymes, there is only little flow to the poem. I would suggest to figure out how to add a rhyme scheme to the poem to improve it.

Lovely poem! I often think about this concept too, it’s mind boggling. I like how you sectioned each group of words too, especially the last line, very impactful.

Interesting. What if we all secretly have one soul?

the poem wraps up, kinda cyclically, in the sense of repetition. It first delves into exploration about the concept that sometimes you may not see a person again, then concludes. This feels very satisfying, and i'm glad you used repetition.

The lack of capitalization is just aesthetic. Nothing more than that. Thank you for the response! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

You've touched on an aspect of our lives I'm sure many of us ponder but rarely ever share with others or write about. I'm impressed with the efficiency with which you communicate the phenomenon of passing by strangers, each with their own distinct and complex lives, but rarely getting the chance to even have a brief insight into them. Nothing here is spectacular but it doesn't need to be and actually, it aids the emotion and feeling that is suitable to convey even better. Walking through a 'lonely crowd' is quite a mundane activity so the realism is appropriate.

If I were to have some feedback, (and I'm being extremely picky here because there's little wrong with your work) I would say maybe another line to accompany 'be kind to those people,' that develops specifics on ways we can be kind perhaps. Plus, is the absence of capitalisation merely an aesthetic choice, or is there something more in that choice?

A short but impactful piece, thanks for sharing. Always satisfying to see so

This is beautiful and a good reminder to live each day with kindness and patience. Why rush the moments we may only have once, or a handful of times? You also never know who misses you, or tells stories about you as "this one customer," or wonders how you're doing even if they've forgotten your name. Thank you for sharing such a compassionate message

Thank you for the response. I'm glad you liked the poem

What a wonderful reminder and you have described it so well. It’s easy to get desensitized to this concept, but I love how you say that they’ll disappear forever “but only from us.” It makes me think about how we’re often so very self centered in our modern, fast-paced lives, we often don’t stop to think about such things. These people don’t just live at the grocery store and they aren’t the same ones who were here last time. They have lives just like us that go on afterwards and have gone on before. A chance passing in the bread aisle may be the only chance we have to make any sort of impact on them. So thank you for this lovely poem and the reminder to be kind.

I'm glad you liked it, thanks for the response!

“But only from us” This part right here drives this whole thing home for me. The person I held the door for today, the homeless guy on the corner, the lady who cut me off in traffic… all at once now I’m reflecting on the fact that prior to reading this, they did truly cease to exist to me. Yet their still out there.

The guy I held the door for is probably smoking one of the cigs he bought as he made his purchase. The homeless guy is probably out there miserable in the rain. What if the lady who cut me off was getting to the hospital to see a loved one in trouble?

Things I normally don’t put too much thought into. And how I can have positive influence on these people I cross paths with every day whose lives continue to go on.

This would've been a great poem even without the final lines, but those really elevated the poem and turned it into something unique and positive. I also really like the way you write, the language you use is clear-cut and straight to the point but still holds a very poetic quality

oh, hi there; didn't see you! you've reached r/OCPoetry; this is a workshop site where you can share, read, and talk about eachother's poetry & etc. to post your own poems, you need to give feedback to 2 other writers. if you aren't trying to share, you're encouraged to give feedback, but aren't required. try to be nice, questioning, and specific. if you can't do that - eat a cabbage and come back later. try to give feedback to a writer without any feedback. lastly, read our [feedback guide ](https://www.reddit.com/r/OCPoetry/wiki/feedbackcritiques), other writer's comments, or this author’s feedback links. if you still aren't sure whether your comments are useful ‘feedback’, or you have any other questions, send us a modmail!

Maybe only from one eye(?)

so then

half vanished

50/50

 well, more like 0/90

or something

like that but

that’s just numbers right ?

Edited twice : formatting the spaces… why can’t I see them between lines ?

it’s fascinating how
many people we come across
will disappear forever
but only from us

the persons at the grocery store
gas station, ball game
have their own lives.
and for a small moment
we’re a part of it.

we pass by strangers not knowing
if we’ll ever see them again.

be kind to those people.

we only have a small moment
with them before
they disappear from us

forever
