ABTF v Bratabase 38 J - 36 H, Is my shape the issue

Shape Help

Hi, I've read through most of the information on ABTF and its been really helpful but I'm still confused about my shape and just wondering if this is why I'm getting different results.

Was previously wearing (back riding up) 40G / 38H (Spilling over the top near gore but gap at tail of spence)

ABTF - recommends 38J (The few that I've tried have all been WAY to big all around the cup)

Loose - 41 in

Snug - 39

Tight - 36

Standing 51

Leaning 55

Lying 51.5

Bratabase - recommends 36 H (I can't really get a 36 on - I struggle with 38 but I'm willing to for the right bra)

Comfortable ribcage 94.0 cm

Loose ribcage 104.1

Tight ribcage 91.4

Horizontal perimeter45.7

Vertical perimeter39.4

Laying perimeter38.1

Nip 2 Neck 33.0

Breast base 20.3

Frame width 30.5

My breast tissue goes up to my collar bone, it's at least mid axilla if not a little further towards the back ( I have a lot of back fat so there is the issue of merging)

I have soft pendulous breasts - I feel they have lost a bit of volume from the top in the last year or so ( Peri menopausal )

I can get 1 finger between my gore with no bra, and depending on what bra either a finger or nothing so I presume they are close set?

I really can't work out what shape I am ( tall, wide roots etc ) and whether that really matters?? I feel almost flat chested where my breasts hang so much then when you hit the gore its all boob and there is loads of it. So I thought I was full on bottom.

Then I read this article from about sizing up for depth http://hugsforyourjugs.blogspot.com/2018/09/the-surprisingly-common-phenomenon-of.html from u/HugsforYourJugs and this bit resonated with me

'Some fit issues that can arise from this are discomfort from the wires being too wide, discomfort from the bra being pushed away by your breasts at the deepest point (causing the bra to dig in at the bottom), straps being too widely placed, or a feeling of compression around the rib cage'

I also get gaping at the top. I know this might be sounding more like a measurement question but I'm keen to work out my shape too. I haven't felt confident to post until I'd read all the information. And even though I have I still feel I'm not asking myself the right questions - So I'm hoping more knowledgable people can! Thanks.

Thank you for sharing that link. I think it addresses some of the issues I've been having.

You're welcome, I thought it would be relatively easy to find my size with the calculator as a starting point - but turns out a fraction more complicated. ;)

My gut says H is way too small. You might want to start at a 36L/LL UK sizing. As for the no space between your boobs. same problem here. Still haven't found a unicorn since top-heavy me falls out of every plunge i try. Unfortunately, few bras will go up to that size. I just checked on bare necessities, and 36L is the largest 36 size they show. However, there were more options than I expected.

(When I first started this I went from 40DDD (US, Soma) to 36HH).

and i should say, i have too much projection for every stinking bra i've tried, and everything rubs on my ToS, too. Do you see wrinkling on the bottom of the cups?

I've been losing weight since I found ABTF, and I'm currently wearing a 34H but needing a 32HH/30H depending on the day. I still want to lose more, so I haven't spent the money yet on polish bras. Apparently that's the "answer" for those of us with mega projection. (And my dad's mom is 100% Polish, so maybe it really is a polish thing). I was getting by with the discontinued Arla from Panache, but it's gone, and it maxed out at an H cup.

Wow you really think H is too small! Damn... Lol feel like I'm starting over again. Although a few people mention that calculator struggles with large pendulous....

When I tried the 38 J to say it was massive was an understatement. I actually felt chuffed that a bra was SO much bigger than my boobs. It didn't really sit on my IMF it had wrinkling at the bottom and felt like my fist could fit at the top. Can't remember if I tried the 36 J at the time though.... (It was in Bravissimo and I have to say I wasn't all that impressed by the fitter or the options available to me, I chose a Jenna bra in the end - I've put the pics up on Bratabase ) but in the search of ABTF I'm willing to try again! Perhaps I'll go for the Ls.

Trouble is as I'm a rather large lass dress size 20/22 I find it difficult to do up 36's spin them around and then scoop and swoop.

Also whilst I mentioned I might be close set that's only immediately at the gore - my boobs do splay out a little bit so it's only once in the cup (some cups anyway) that they are very close together.
