Enemy ships will confiscate ?
When accepting missions for passengers or mcguffins, the acceptance screen warns that enemy ships will confiscate it. I've never seen that happen, even when surrendering for inspection to factions that really don't like me.
Have I just been extraordinarily lucky? Are there circumstances where this triggers?

If you are surrendering to Pirates, it doesn't matter. They're looking for booty not mission stuff. If you are surrendering to Military Officers, Spies, or Zealots, that's a different story. They will take your mission people and goods.
If you are surrendering to Explorers, Merchants, or Smugglers, you're doing something horribly wrong.
Lol surrendering to a merchant.
All of this.
Will add: if you pick up a Smuggler crew with Hideout talent you can make this happen.
Thanks. I'm sure I've surrendered to MO, Spies, or Zealots - but maybe they weren't hostile enough?
On reflection, I suspect I've surrendered to initial opponent faction military officers while carrying hostile cargo or passengers. But probably only in the -20 or so range, because once they really hate you, they are going to kill you, not just board you.
Any clue on where the line is?
