A gym from Japan has appeared in California
The attached video shows the following:
- Verifying via the View in Map option that the gym I'm standing next to is in Burlingame, California.
- Tapping the new gym down the street and showing that its name is in Japanese, which is already odd.
- Tapping View in Map on this gym (twice, because Niantic I guess) and being shown a location in... Saitama I think? Not familiar with Japanese address formats.
This second video https://youtu.be/4G_yCsh3M0k was taken after i walked down to this "new" gym. getting "Try again later" when I spun it, and "Walk closer to interact with this gym" when I tried to feed a berry to a Pokemon.
There's 6 Pokemon in the gym, most have been there for about 12 hours, all have names in English but I guess those just appear in my default language unless the owner customized the name? I was last on that street about 2 days ago and it wasn't there at the time, but I can't narrow it down any more than that.
So yeah... that was the most entertaining bug I've seen in a while, and if anyone more technically inclined has any theories on how the hell this happened, I'd love to hear them.

I've had this after a remote raid. A gym from Australia appeared on my street in the UK. It's just a visual bug and will persist until you reload the app.
I´m curious if you were able to battle in this gym after the raid had disappeared.
Probably not, if it's a visual glitch. The actual location of the gym hasn't changed, just the image of it has, so you'll likely get a "walk closer to interact" message no matter what

I was able to berry a glitched gym before, I wasn't able to attack it since it was a gym I was already in for over a day.
Yep. I get this multiple times per week. Doesn't have to be from another country either. Gym appears on the map and you can't actually interact with it. It will persist until you restart the app.
