This is so random but I went to the shooting range for the first time this year!

It looks like you did a great job, and based on your comments so far in the thread here, it seems like you had fun. I'm glad to hear it.
Just make sure to always follow the 4 universal rules of gun safety every time you handle one.
May you have many safe and fun trips to the range in the future.
Agreed. I would never be able to partake in hunting because I like animals too much :'(
That's fine. Guns don't have to be about hunting. There is an element of control and discipline inherent in using firearms safely.
Plus, they're a fun way to turn money into noise.
Also a close 5th saftey rule to be sure of: Always check the chamber of any gun you just picked up for a bullet. Even if you just watched it get checked
This!! I'm a (gun nut?) and I fervently believe that firearms are one of the few inanimate objects with the ability to bite the shit out of you if it feels you arent paying enough attention. My INFP superstition clearly CLEARLY states that an unloaded firearm will magically load itself if you arent being careful enough.
an unloaded firearm will magically load itself if you arent being careful enough.
You say that, but the way my dad reinforced the point that u/finefeatheredfriend5 made pretty much seemed like the gun magically loading itself when I was 7.
Dad had (still has, actually) a Remington bolt-action 22. I don't remember the model number of it, but it feeds from a detachable magazine. This is the first gun I ever shot.
Anyway, my dad was teaching me the "always check the chamber" rule while my uncle and some of my dad's friends were sitting around talking one night. I think he saw that it wasn't quite clicking in my 7-year-old brain.
So dad takes this .22 rifle, shows me that the chamber is empty, closes the bolt, hands it to one of the other adults there. That adult opened the bolt, checked the chamber, closed it, passed it to the next adult, who checked the chamber, closed the bolt, and the process repeated until the rifle made it back to my dad.
My dad checked the chamber and handed me the rifle. I opened the bolt and a live round ejected from the gun.
In hindsight, I know that they were all opening the bolt far enough to check the chamber, and that when the gun got back to my dad, he fully cycled the bolt and fed a round from the magazine. But when I was 7, it seemed like the gun magically loaded itself.
I'm lucky enough to live on a farm where I can shoot on my property. Ive never been to a range but I want the experience of it. Maybe I'll look up one of the ranges in town.
Do it!
Decreases in ammo price is inversely proportional with range visits.
These are my results, I guess I did not bad haha! This was with a rifle
Remind me to stay on your left or right if you ever hunt me down! ;)
Nice grouping! + Last bullet at the bottom? ^_^
Thanks! Idk how I did it to be honest but I want to go again!
