I basically use blender just for the rendering portion while doing the design and modelling in Rhino. My school is pretty software agnostic though, as the concepts and design intent are what we are trying to develop, rather than technical skills.
Additionally, on my last co-op job I used Blender to render for my firm as well, with the modelling done in sketch up.
