Adjustment of thermistor screw question (CR10S-Pro)

Hey all,

I was cleaning up my CR10S-Pro after a bad failed print today and I noticed that the screw for the thermistor on the heat block wasn’t in all the way. Like a dumbass, I tightened it without reading up on if I even should.

I can see that as expected now, I immediately started having an issue with the thermistor shorting and reading 300 degrees even if it was completely cool. I saw on someone’s troubleshooting post that they mentioned loosening the screw to fix it, so I did the same. Backed the screw out around as far as I think it was and it’s working again now seemingly without issue.

My question is - do I need to make any additional adjustments now? Is it a simple “short-not short” situation or are there measurements I need to set somewhere based on how far in the screw is?

Let me know if I can provide any additional info. Thank you!

The screw pinched the insulation hard enough to expose the bare wires to the metal of the heat block. I did the same thing to mine. It will short again unless you fix it. I fixed mine by wrapping the wires in a bit of kapton tape.

Ah neat, I have some of that tape on hand from work I was going on another printer recently. Looks like I’ve got some cleanup to do. Thanks for the info!
