Yeah, that's not a game. That's a machine designed to take money from addicts.
Yes, and in today's gaming world.... that's pretty much the definition of most games...
So just like: Fortnite, Halo 5, CoD, Madden, NHL, NBA 2K, FIFA, Battlefront, Battlefield, GTA, Overwatch, Dead by Daylight, Apex, Geshen Impact,
How many of those games are P2W though? Fortnite still only uses the in game money for cosmetics I’m pretty sure, unless I missed something.
P2W is a very tricky thing to monitor. Is paying for a double xp boost P2W? Is paying to unlock a gun or perk that you could otherwise grind out P2W? You aren't buying higher dps directly, but it's reducing the grind and getting you the ability to spawn in a tank or use better weapons now. In OSRS, you could spend hours grinding out 100,000 coins an hour like a job to buy the next tier of armor and weapons and jewlery, or spend a multiple of 7 USD on an item that sells for 5,000,000 coins instantly and buy the gear upgrade with that. In Halo 5, you collect cards to let you spawn in with a vehicle, or a power weapon, and for higher rarity cards you can get a tank that reloads faster, or an auto-lock on grenade launcher that shreds through players instantly.
Additionally, for some people, the goal of the game is to unlock cosmetics. Back in CoD4 era, if you had the highest tier of camo, unlockable only through headshots, you were "The Best". Likewise for Halo 3/Reach, getting the coolest armor through achievements was a flex. Now you can get the best stuff as rare unlocks through lootboxes, gaining those lootboxes through either level ups, or buying the gear.
Also sorry for this like giant ass thesis: I used to really like videogames, played a lot from my earliest memories through 2012, but after 4 years of college where I didn't buy any new games and rather just played old stuff with my classmates, coming back to the state of gaming in 2018+ and everything being microtransaction laden was a major culture shock for me. Plus also I'm a bit passionate about hating gambling, gambling addiction almost destroyed a family close to me.
BattleSlots?
HUGE win!
And later in Battlebots blackjack “Huge hit there!”
It's not even pachinko smh
Out of all the developers...why konami
Out of all the slot machine developers why Konami?
Why not? it's all the same crap.
konami is a gambling company these days first and foremost.
Wait, the company behind Contra, Rush N Attack, and many others just does gambling now? What a waste of classic gaming talent.
Yeah, they dipped out of the gaming industry and went all in on gambling. The last two actual games they released were....pretty damn awful.
Konami owns casinos, has a gaming machine factory in Nevada, makes casino management software for other casinos... Been that way for a while. They have got licenses for gambling stuff all over the world.
Because they need to pass the time while they sit on their goldmine of IPs of course! 🙄

The grand prize is 1/30th of a Hypershock
Season 6 spoilers with Jackpot getting the nut?! lul
I was really excited!
Then the image loaded.
This was misleading.
First time I saw this image, I thought it was a leaked fight card and was struggling to understand some unorthodox new layout....
Oh God, why?
This stuff is gross.
Bronco :,(
I don't gamble....ugh, Alright...all $$$ on Tombstone!
If the teams get a cut this is great news. This may also bring in new fans.
gross
I'm part of a local problem gambling prevention task force, so not thrilled about that aspect. BUT if we are looking for indicators that there is a bankable brand to robot combat fighting this would be a huge one. They brand slot machines so that people want to sit down at them, and floor space in a casino is very valuable and competitive... they must think there is general appeal to even give this a shot.
Came here to post something similar. I know the diehards want a game to play, but if this demonstrates/increase the strength on the BB brand with the wider public. That can only be a good thing for the show and the entire ecosystem.
Up up down down left right left right B A start.
Finally a use for the Konami code that gives money.
Shouldn’t jackpot be the jackpot
"Game"
Alright, who tf asked the monkey's paw for a triple-A battlebots game??
And here I was hoping for “robot arena 2 with stable physics”
You may want to take a look at Robot Rumble 2. While the game is still in alpha stage, it's already pretty damn good. Can be gotten for free as long as it's still in development.
It looks more like an arcade game than a triple A
Was joking, playing on the konami backing
Wishing on the Monkey's Paw twists your wish into technically correct but with consequences (to put it mildly)
It's a slot machine. Konami makes a lot of them.
