I feel like toddlers only have so much courage to do and try new things. He used it all up eating yesterday so today he has to recharge.

At least that’s what I tell myself with my son.

I can't get my son to eat chicken nuggets. I mean, who doesn't like breaded chicken?! So tonight I put some ketchup on them...he sucked the ketchup off and put the chicken nugget back on his plate.

Mine won’t drink anything other than milk or water. I guess I went overboard on avoiding juice.😂 Now I have no way of sneaking him medicine when he’s sick and stubborn!

I sneak medicine in the applesauce pouches!! My kid doesn’t drink juice either but he’ll flatten an applesauce pouch in like 10 seconds 😂

My daughter won't even try chocolate chip cookies or ice cream. Whose child were you switched with at birth and where is mine?!

Although she is a ketchup fiend just like me and has definitely done this same thing 🤢

Lol a few weeks ago we had “chicken” (vegetarian) nuggets which he usually loves, nuggets, peas and gravy. He dipped his finger in the gravy, said “yummy!” And did not touch the meal again.

I want to call you a liar, just like those people who claim working out makes them feel amazing afterwards!

But in reality I’m just jealous. Maybe someday I can get my kids to eat even 50% of what they ask for, then claim they don’t like. Teach me your ways!

Haha I was extremely shocked my 18 month old has been very cautious with what he eats. But yesterday he just dived into everything. I was afraid to even move or it would break the spell. 😅. I have no idea what changed

I don’t even think that I’m aware of what can potentially influence them, in a good or bad way. I’m just trying the best that I can to keep them happy and healthy

😂 I promise it happened. Everyone in the house was sitting absolutely still while he killed 2 filets of fish.

Even the quantity of what they put away can vary day to day. Has anyone else been surprised by a small toddler smashing the same amount of breakfast as an adult and then wanting a snack after, and then the next morning only having a few bites?

This is my life.

Mine ate some fancy bougie shit at the Japanese restaurant we went to for her dad's birthday dinner. The chefs were goddamn delighted to have the toddler seal of approval on almost every dish. The only thing she rejected were the shishito peppers wrapped in paper thin crispy pork belly.

Today she's eaten panda express broccoli, a babybel, and half a package of tropical gummies. She's been asking for cheese and gummies all day... And that's all.

I just don't understand toddlers. They will do this one day, eat everything with no complaint like it's their most favorite foods, and the next it's Satan's creation and they want nothing to do with it 🤷

I have to remind myself on a daily basis he will eat if he's hungry just to keep from going mad 🤣

It's absolutely a balance. With toddlers and babies they're very receptive to what their body needs. They'll eat accordingly. It helps to view their intake on a weekly basis vs daily. One day they may eat fish and veggies and rice etc and the next, fruit. But looking through a whole week... they get a balanced amount of the food groups.

Yeah this is not true for my child. I offer everything and don’t cater to her pickiness but she absolutely does not eat a balanced diet. She eats what she likes (fruit, bread, yogurt, and cheese) mainly and otherwise chooses not to eat.

Yep, won't be true for every single child. But a lot of them will eat lots of fruit one day and not want it the next and instead eat veggies and other stuff.

My kid has hungry days and not so hungry days. After a few days of eating about 2 bites at each meal yesterday he ate 3/4 of a avocado, a scrambled egg, a string cheese, black beans and rice, a pancake with syrup, ravioli with red sauce, broccoli, carrot fries, a natures bakery bar, grapes, and some various crunchy snacks. His belly was enormous at bed time. I just try to fit in as many healthy things as I can on hungry days, and not stress about the other days.

My daughter is also 18 months and does this all the time. Yesterday, she ate her whole plate of lasagna, today I'm sure she'll have nothing to do with it. So I'm stuck having to come up with new dishes for this Masterchef judge who won't eat the same meal twice and hates half the things I make for her.

I mean today my toddler ate 2 whole pieces of cucumber after not eating veggies for weeks (excluding the “hidden veggies “ I hide in sauces etc), and I did a whole happy dance inside. I’m sure this means for the next week he’ll have nothing but pasta lol

You’re doing a great job! Keep fighting the good fight!!

That happened to me today! My son has only been eating fruits and shredded cheese and maybe the occasional fish stick and today he ate his whole dinner! I was so happy

Today I made some fettuccine alfredo with tuna and peas and my kid chomped it down. Even the peas were gone at the end. The peas!

I managed to get my toddler to like trying new things.

Frozen dragon fruit is a hit, especially in this heat.

I know, I'm boasting ;)

I thought this was going to end with "and then threw it up" because that's howd it go down in my house 😆

Toddlers are growing so fast. They are starving some days. My little one will eat anything so days others she says no. Don't take it personally.

A rare event! One that you won’t see for another 37 months. God speed!

Congrats! I still live in hope. I was a short order cook tonight and cooked 2 separate meals (that they had asked for) before they finally settled on pb&j sandwiches.
