Highlining questions
I'm a total newbie when it comes to slacklining, but a friend is more into the sport, and I realized that I could string a line between two trees in my yard.
So, my question is, what would we need to set it up?

Just off the top of my head, what you need for a highline is redundancy. Make sure that if anything in your system breaks, you have a backup. The forces generated on slacklines are astronomical and you must have an awareness of that.
Use steel carabiners, and two line lockers on either side of the slackline. Use a tensioned line and tape non-tensioned climbing rope, or amsteel rope to the bottom of the line. Try to use leash rings instead of carabiners as carabiners can accidentally become unclipped as this happened with the only highlining death so far. I also like to have a length of chain that I can clip into a biner so that the tensioning system itself can be removed. Some don't do this however.
This is by no means an exhaustive list. It is just some of the things you need to think of. All in all, there is no substitute for simply meeting someone that is into highlining, and learning from them. My best of luck to you. And enjoy! Highlining is a load of fun!
Thanks! It looks like I've got a shopping spree in my future! (Which, for once, I don't mind...)
