Destination Dependency
I patiently await your arrival, yet you’re nowhere near.
Pace forward, neck turn, squint my eyes with an intense stare.
In too deep no turning back now, paid the price some say it’s an unfair fare.
That’s the cost of convenience with disdain I wait til you appear.
So one sided I’m helpless, should I take the loss and leave.
Knowing my heart would ache if you show up, I’m all in, In you I truly believe.
Sticking with my choice, in the distance a faint familiar rumbling, more soothing than an angelic saintly voice.
Internally I rejoice, breathe a sigh of relief showing restraint remaining poised.
Doors open grand entrance an immediate seat.
I excitedly exhale and enjoy the relief of strain off my feet.

I took this this as one of two ways and both are pretty beautiful. It could be the relief of the end of a journey, when you finally get home, or more Personal; a sign of an opportunity to do something really good. "So one sided im helpless, should i take the loss and leave." i love more because the narrator didnt ask it as a question. I really enjoyed where this poem put me, difficult but reliving, keep it up <3
So it was inspired by waiting for that dreaded NYC train late night after a long day at work. Thanks for your insight and encouragement.
