10th anniversary!

Discussion

On August 31 2011, I hit the green Grid button for the very first time, waiting anxiously in my MX5 Cup car (the open top 4-speed version) for the lights to come on. I still remember the rush of adrenaline as the lights turned gray, red, GREEN! I started 10th, dodged a lot of wrecks and made it home in 4th. Astonishingly with 0x. Fantastic experience!

Today, for my 10th iRacing anniversary, I thought I'd see if I could recreate that race. So, I did some practice and jumped into a Global Mazda race. Qualified 9th and finished 7th (gosh, those top split guys really know how to drive the MX5...). But at least I did manage another 0x.

Thank you iRacing for all the fantastic racing over the years! Thank you all iRacers making up this fantastic community!

Looking forward to the 20th anniversary now...

I’m at 12 or 13 years (I joined when they went live to the public), it still gets me pumped every time I line Up on the grid and wait for the lights. I’m a hard core right and left turn enthusiast but the most fun I’ve had and the most wins I’ve had, are from racing the dirt oval street stocks, what a blast.

Congrats! I sure wish I had found this sim way back then!

I was working on a race team and one of the other mechanics asked me about it, he knew I had a “simulator” (g25 attached to some wood frame). It was still in closed beta at the time but he told me it was going public the following week. I signed up first chance I could!

Iracing ruined every other driving game for me, I’ve tried all of them over the years but nothing can compare for me.

So much has happened since then. Multi-class racing, Nordschleife, dirt racing, Le Mans, GT3, …

Never gets old, just keeps growing and improving. You’re always looking forward to what the next season’s release will bring.
