[In Progress] [14649] [Dark Fantasy] Carve

Novelette

Hi there! The beginning chapters of a longer manuscript which will be around 70 000 words in total. I've re-written and edited it a couple of times but I think it's time to get fresh eyes on it before I tweak it anymore.

Blurb(work in progress): Far in the north, a new face is a rare thing. When Mage Marten arrives the Kingdom holds its breath for a swift victory over the Carve, man-kinds oldest enemy. But Queen Idora see's things differently, in fact, she appears to be seeing things no one else does. Her husband sinking further into the Mage's clutches, Idora at first fears for her own secrets, so well kept until now. But as things in Castle Hadrod grow ever darker and more bizarre, as pieces fall into place around her, Idora finds herself capable of things beyond her nightmares in the name of survival and perhaps, a long-sought freedom.

Warning: Story includes dark themes of violence, self-harm and cruelty, among other things.

I'd like to know how well you understand what is going on, if everything flows, if it's grabbing your interest, just any thoughts you have while reading really!

Looking to critique swap! Will read basically any genre and provide whatever feedback you're after :)
