Anyone applied for or experience with Safety and Occupational Health Management (0018) series?
At the start of next month I will have three years of experience in safety with a BS in Environmental Health and Safety, a variety of certificates, and work towards industry credentials. Since I decided on the career I've applied from time to time for the 0018 series mainly in my geographic area, but I was curious if anyone here had any general insight. Doesn't matter where at as long as it's for the 0018 series to gauge if it's really worth putting effort into applying. I appreciate the assistance.

Actually my agency thinks that they can change me from a 0690 to a 0018. I intend to remind them that there are folks out there who actually want to do Safety...
I actually wouldn't mind IH it's just that math wasn't particularly fun during my four semesters of chemistry and one semester of actual math. I've looked at IH Master programs and the calculus is what makes me cringe.
As for an agency making folks do something outside of their scope I'm actually trying to move away from that since my current job has me doing EHS, Aviation safety, and hazardous waste management all under one title. Isn't it grand?
Unfortunately, this is the norm for a lot of agencies. They won’t tell you this on the interview.
I have been a govt IH since 2002 and have worked with the 0018 folks in the past, but I don't want that designation on paper. I will do whatever is needed but I don't want my SF 50 to be changed from an IH to a 0018.
A lot of agencies combine Safety and IH duties into the 0018 series. Obtaining a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification will help advance your career in the 0018 series. The DC area has more 0018 opportunities than other areas.
Just graduated with an MPH...have no desire to work 0018...
