Fatigue 3 days after surgery

I had open CT release surgery on Thursday. The pain is manageable, only taking OTC meds and I feel ok flexing fingers and making a fist. I’m supposed to leave the dressing on until my follow up appointment in a few days. No fever or weird tenderness. I can use my hand for easy tasks.

However, I am feeling quite a bit of fatigue. I’m not normally the sort of person who takes naps, but it’s all I want to do.

Anyone experience this? Sure, my body is healing and that takes energy, but this seems like a relatively minor sort of injury. I’ve experienced much worse.

There are certainly other things in my life that could be causing stress, and maybe that’s all it is. But I thought I’d ask you guys whether you ever felt this way after CT surgery?

I had it tuesday too. Feel fine but having a bit of trouble moving thumb and i can not hold anything with just a tiny bit of weight and I can't squeeze. I am not tired though at all - it is annoying which can make me tired.

Yeah, it could just be the interruption to my daily routine that’s frustrating me enough to make me tired.

I think so but as we know as patients of CTS - don’t hesitate to ask your doctor.

Anesthesia takes quite a while to work out of your system.

Good point, but I just had local anesthesia.

Oh well!

I had mine two weeks ago Tuesday, they put me under, and I napped on and off constantly for about 3 days. Sometimes the anesthesia takes awhile to work itself out of your system!

I just got mine done last week, I did nothing but sleep for about 4 days straight and am now onto afternoon cat naps. I'm grateful for it though because I hadn't slept well for months due to the pain from the carpal tunnel. So what you described doesn't sound unusual. Best of luck on recovery!

I got mine over 2 months ago and I'm still recovering. I'm glad you're not going through what I had to. Definitely happy I got the surgery but it was at least a full month of hell before things SLOWLY got better. Good luck !!

I'm 12 days post op and I still need to lay down for awhile every day. The exhaustion seems to hit me right around 3pm. I think it's probably normal, even though it's a relatively minor surgery, your body still needs rest to heal.
