I don’t want to go into too much detail, but my employment may or may not qualify for PSLF. In the past, people have been denied, but one person was recently approved. I’ve made payments for over 12 years at this point, prior to the pandemic.

I filed an application a year ago, and received a response that they were still looking at it, but on initial review, it doesn’t qualify.

I’ve sent a lot of mail and made a lot of phone calls, and I’ve just about given up. I decided I wasn’t going to qualify, applied for SAVE.

But now, I’m ready to start making payments under SAVE (I’ll hit the 25 year mark in 9 years and at least have $20k chopped off the end of the loan), and twice my loan was spo

I’m an autistic adult with low support needs (informally diagnosed by a professional but mostly self diagnosed) and my kids (5) are autistic with high support needs, formally diagnosed. I want to build an indoor play structure, and I’m having trouble finding plans or even images of what I want.

I want things to climb and a slide, but I also want comfy little cubbie spaces to get into. That’s something I’ve always craved, and I know my kids seek those out. I’d like to upholster them a bit with easy to clean material so it’s comfortable to lean against the walls of the cubbies, and use them as hiding places for sensory escape.

Has anyone seen a play structure with those sort of cubbie tucked

I have checked in to the McKittrick many times (about 13), but my last visit was on 2016. I had babies and it became a lot more difficult to fly out to NYC.

But with the show closing, I’ve booked a final trip and will catch 3 shows. I know there’s some new material, maybe new characters. I’m not looking for too many details or for help finding 1:1s! In fact, I’m not going to actually aim for any 1:1s I know about from my prior visits. I’ll mostly wander, and let things unfold.

But if you have any suggestions, such as “swing by X floor after the rave,” or “look for someone wearing a red hat,” or any general descriptions of “new” characters, I would appreciate it!

According to my sleep study, I have very mild sleep apnea. The junior doctor at the practice told me I could try CPAP, or I could wait and test again in the future and see if it’s become more urgent. AHI 4, RDI 11, for what it’s worth.

I order the machine because I want to see if it helps me sleep. My 90 days starts the day they ship it. It takes two weeks to arrive because it’s the holidays. I have a telephonic meeting with a tech (her internet is down, winter storms). The nose mask they sent won’t work— I’m congested. So they order a full face mask.

I get it and I have 60 days left, and I need 20 days of compliance in a 30 day period (4+ hours a night). I can’t get it to work. I take off

I’ve been on Ritalin several months ago (diagnosed as an adult), and it really helps with brain fog. But it has side effects, the latest development being acne.

And I’ve lost people to addiction. Some to opiates, some to meth. I’ve never had a dependency myself, and I believe I’ve just been lucky that I didn’t happen to socialize with people who use, who would have introduced me when I was young and naive. I’m not better than addicts, just because I’ve been lucky not to fall into addiction. I’m just lucky.

If you’ve ever loved someone with a meth addiction, you know what it means when they develop bad acne. They’re back on it. Ritalin is chemically similar to street meth, and acne is a si

Hypothetically speaking, say you have some dried shrooms that were acquired in 2019 and kept in a cool dry place. Would they mostly be dust by now? Reduced potency? Try a little and see? Risks?

Edited to add: psilocybe cubensis

Content warning: Obviously…. Barf.

Kid #1 started puking on Saturday. My wife started puking last night. Kid #2 has been puking on me for the last 3 hours.

I’m just hoping my wife feels well enough to wrangle the kids before I start. I’ve been very careful, washing hands and sanitizing everything, but Kid #2 coughed a little vomit into my face.

How do you prepare for the inevitable? I am a woman, but I tend to get sick like a man (you know what I mean). I don’t expect I’ll have that luxury this time.

So for context, I (44 cis woman) have an informal diagnosis of autism. We opted not to undergo formal evaluation because it’s expensive and I don’t need services.

I’m also currently being evaluated for ADHD. It’s a “probably” but we’ll see how I respond to Wellbutrin. If I function better with more dopamine, that’s a strong sign. Too early to tell, so far. (The first line meds aren’t ideal for me.)

I have been trying to practice intuitive eating for some time, and I recently realized I have NO IDEA that I’m hungry until I’m starving. I don’t feel full unless I’m stuffed. I cannot perceive any nuanced hunger levels.

Has anyone developed a better sense of their own body’s needs on ADHD med

Mercury Retrograde?

Closing Issues

(Yes this is meant to be on the fun side.)

Ok, in my mind, there’s no rational reason to believe that Mercury retrograde has any impact on closings, just like full moons have no real impact on what happens in ERs.

However…. What’s your experience?

I’m selling a house, and had two offers fall through that would have closed during the upcoming retrograde. I’m likely going under contract today that won’t close until early November, and aside from just wanting to be done, I have no real reason to complain about the delay. But since it means closing after retrograde is over, I’m trying to tell myself…. “Hey, self, just in case Mercury retrograde is real, it’s great that closing will be after

I had open CT release surgery on Thursday. The pain is manageable, only taking OTC meds and I feel ok flexing fingers and making a fist. I’m supposed to leave the dressing on until my follow up appointment in a few days. No fever or weird tenderness. I can use my hand for easy tasks.

However, I am feeling quite a bit of fatigue. I’m not normally the sort of person who takes naps, but it’s all I want to do.

Anyone experience this? Sure, my body is healing and that takes energy, but this seems like a relatively minor sort of injury. I’ve experienced much worse.

There are certainly other things in my life that could be causing stress, and maybe that’s all it is. But I thought I’d ask you guy

My kid was wiggling all over the potty seat, moving herself too far forward and too far back.

I found myself saying “you need to keep your butthole over the potty hole.”

Is that ok? Is there a better phrase? My 3 year olds are autistic and mostly nonverbal, but they test pretty well at receptive language, so we try to presume that they pick up on what we’re saying. “Sit properly” is accurate but doesn’t lend itself to a better understanding of the goal of the whole thing.

I know that proper language is good for body parts but honestly, I use “butthole” rather than anus if I need to reference that part of my anatomy.

What do you say?

My sweet 3 yr old just managed to slam her skull into my cheekbone, just under my eye, while I was trying to settle her into bed. I saw a bright light. It’s still throbbing an hour later.

It led to the most perfunctory good-night tuck-in from me, as I tried to get out of there before bursting into tears.

Not my first major facial injury from a thick-skulled offspring, but wow. Ouch.

What’s the worst injury you’ve received from your kid?
