After posting I did some searching in the sub’s history and figured I’d reflect the trend in my own pricing.

Used this pack for the CT earlier this summer, had plenty of space for all my gear, maybe even too much space unless I’m really pushing the ~25-30lbs recommendation from the manufacturer. I’m looking to move to something a bit smaller for my next thru. Partway through my hike I had a raft-maker in Salida sew my load lifter attachment points down a bit lower on the pack since I’ve got a fairly short torso. This let the lifters actually do their job instead of hunching the top of the pack over my shoulders, and by proxy my shoulders themselves. This fix saved my hike, in my opinion they seemed a bit high even for an average length torso. They now look a little bit offset from each other, but I don’t notice it at all when wearing it. One of the male clips on the harness snapped so I rigged it up with thick shock cord instead. Got the inspiration from seeing a Salomon running vest with a zig zag shock cord sternum strap. This change also turned out to make it way more comfortable, letting my chest fully expand as I breathed deep, feels very stable.
I used a 6 segment Nemo switchback as added support, but with a well-packed and dialed kit it should ride beautifully on its own as well. The right shoulder pocket shock cord pulled out from its stitching, didn’t bother me since I never felt the need to tighten those, looks like a fairly easy fix. In the pictures I’ve got the 6-panel pad inside as well as most of my kit, then the other 4-section on top, these are not included.
