I’m torn between using 2.5 for the sleeves and 3.6 for the body, or doing the entire jacket in 2.5.

I’ve had a very beat up (well loved) EE torrid for a couple years that I picked up off of geartrade and I know I want to make something a bit warmer than that. Does anyone have experience making a jacket using 3.6oz apex insulation? I’m in eastern WA, but plan to take it on hiking/climbing trips all over the US, so it’ll be used in a variety of different climates.

Any advice you can give is appreciated! I’m using the “UL Windshell” pattern from LearnMyog, the windbreaker prototype turned out great so I’m stoked to press on for the main event.

Comes with size small hip belt and size small vest harness. 35oz I’ve only used this pack on the CT last summer. Held everything I needed it to with room to spare. The pack has been freshly cleaned with a nylon brush and dawn detergent. It is in moderate condition, one of the plastic buckles on the sternum strap broke, so I rigged it up with shock cord instead and it turned out to be more comfortable that way anyway. I also had the load lifters cut off and re-sewn on lower down by a professional repair shop in Salida to make it a bit more comfortable for

The EE jacket is a catch and release from here, used it on the CT this summer and while it did great I’m looking to swap it for something a bit warmer down the line. All holes were present (including large right armpit rip) when I received it, made no difference to me in performance, it’s cozy regardless. The quilt is one that I’ve used in the past for hammock camping, mostly as an under quilt. But it’s just been sitting all summer. $210 shipped or $70 for the jacket and $150 for the

Edited: Price drop. Now $140 shipped promptly.

After posting I did some searching in the sub’s history and figured I’d reflect the trend in my own pricing.

Used this pack for the CT earlier this summer, had plenty of space for all my gear, maybe even too much space unless I’m really pushing the ~25-30lbs recommendation from the manufacturer. I’m looking to move to something a bit smaller for my next thru. Partway through my hike I had a raft-maker in Salida sew my load lifter attachment points down a bit lower on the pack since I’ve got a fairly short tor

Has a couple repairs made on it: Mesh patches and the guyline that lets you roll up both sides of the vestibule has been reattached. I had that done by a local tarp/tent/bivy maker then seam sealed it myself. It’s likely stronger than it was originally. It’s not in the original stuff sack, but is still a very lightweight silnylon.

I finished the CT with this tent earlier in the month and it kept me safe through monsoons and mosquitoes. Though I I cowboy camped whenever I could and found myself wishing I’d brought my
