Service user accounts on qnap?

Hi there. I'm in the process of setting up a new QNAP nas and had a question about service accounts. I have a few accounts I'm creating that are for services that need specific file server (smb) access, but that I'd like to be able to prevent from being able to login to the webUI, and prevent from having a "home" share folder created. Is that possible?

You could make a share link to a folder and email that to someone.

If you make a user account for someone, they can log into the QNAP web gui.

Sorry, I'm looking for the opposite. I have created an account called "serviceapp" that has the shared folder permissions that a specific automated service on my network should have. As far as I can tell, once created, the credentials for that serviceapp user can also be used to sign into the web gui, and a /homes/serviceapp share will be created for it. Can this be prevented? Thanks.

I don't know of a way to prevent a user from having the ability to access the web gui.

Thanks. This seems like a potential risk factor. Please consider a feature request to allow accounts to be restricted to file services only.

If you want to, you could set up notifications for folder operations that way you will get notified if someone logs into the web gui and the home folder is created. But you will also get a bunch of useless information if you don’t filter. Not what you want but a little workaround
